GC Doors

GC Doors has strengthened its position in the market by transforming the challenges of growing demand, complex repair requirements and rising client expectations into opportunities for innovation, learning and operational excellence.
Facing an increasing volume of complex repair requests – particularly for tilt-and-turn, tilt-and- slide, bi-fold and other specialist mechanisms – GC Doors recognised a clear gap in the repair market. Many contractors default to replacement due to limited technical capability, resulting in unnecessary cost and waste. In response, we embraced a culture of informal learning, hands-on upskilling and collaborative knowledge-sharing. Engineers developed expertise organically through real-world casework, shadowing senior staff and team-based troubleshooting. This practical approach enabled us to build authentic specialist capability and establish a strong niche in complex repairs, embedding a repair-first philosophy at the heart of our service model.
As demand increased, we modernised our operations to ensure resilience and efficiency. A full review of communication practices led to clearer, more frequent updates for clients, including structured reports in plain language, photographs and transparent recommendations. We also introduced a digital job management and scheduling system with automated notifications. This improved consistency, reduced missed appointments, prevented avoidable rebooking charges and kept clients and stakeholders fully informed throughout the work cycle.
The system also enabled smarter route planning and work clustering, significantly reducing wasted mileage, carbon emissions and operating costs. To support rising demand, we expanded our workforce by recruiting two additional staff members, increasing capacity and strengthening service reliability.
Together, these improvements have driven business growth, attracted new clients and increased workload volume. GC Doors now operates with greater efficiency, stronger technical capability and a culture of continuous improvement – delivering better outcomes for clients, staff and the environment.

Kettell Windows

Our 20th year marked a pivotal transformation – becoming more visible and making a decisive step change for the next two decades. It kicked off with a win at the GGP Awards 2025, which propelled us forward with renewed confidence to build on our credentials and further strengthen our niche as a premium installer. Across Leicester and Leicestershire, there are over 190 providers of windows and doors – a crowded marketplace perpetually driven by a race to the bottom on price. But there's only one award winner, and we've leveraged this distinction to become the destination for invested homeowners.
As a family-run business established in 2005, we've always been renowned for our trustworthy, low-pressure approach and exceptional attention to detail. However, recognising market saturation required bold action. During Covid, we streamlined our offering exclusively to windows and doors, specialising in direct replacement with bespoke solutions and high-end finishes. We have since gone on to add curated premium brands – Bison Frames, Aluco, Origin, Sheerline, and Liniar's innovative Zero90 system – giving customers access to exceptional quality products unavailable elsewhere.
Operationally, we restructured to maximise the effectiveness of our small but skilled team. By appointing a dedicated order processor, we freed our director to focus on sales, where his product knowledge and industry passion significantly increased conversion rates. We built a sales-focused culture where every team member, including our admin apprentice, contributes to revenue generation. Strategic automation through email triggers and AI-assisted marketing allowed us to manage an increased workload without compromising our renowned customer service.
The results speak volumes: despite challenging economic conditions, 2025 is set to become our best year since Covid. We've proven that premium positioning, operational excellence, and genuine expertise can thrive even when competitors compete solely on price. For homeowners seeking unparalleled craftsmanship and bespoke fenestration solutions, Kettell Windows remains Leicester's premier choice.
Radcliffe Glass & Windows
RADGAW, a trading style of Radcliffe Glass & Windows Ltd after a strategically planned rebrand, is a long-established premium glazing specialist serving the North West since 1979. Under the leadership of managing director Clive Powers for 26 years, the business has evolved into a high-end provider of architectural aluminium solutions for homes and commercial spaces. Following a major £100k rebrand in June 2025, RADGAW now reflects the modern, design-driven glazing systems it supplies and installs.
The company specialises in Origin, Spitfire, Aluco and other leading aluminium brands, offering slimline bifolds, sliding doors, architectural windows, steel-look glazing, internal partitions, specialist roof systems and bespoke structural glazing. With a strong focus on energy efficiency, sustainability and precision installation, RADGAW delivers solutions that combine style, performance, and long-term durability.
Despite a challenging economic climate and a contracting industry, RADGAW has demonstrated exceptional resilience – achieving a 25% increase in turnover YTD and surpassing the previous year’s revenue by early November. This growth has been driven by strategic investment, premium product diversification, modernised operations, and a commitment to excellence in both service and craftsmanship. In a shrinking economy, the decision to proceed with the 10-year plan was a brave decision due to the large investment required in one fiscal year, the possible risk of losing existing customers and the upheaval whilst performing the renovation and full rebrand.
Today, after the rebrand, RADGAW stands as a forward-thinking, customer focused business known for complex installations, technical expertise and high-quality design. Its transformation has positioned the company as a leading provider of architectural glazing in the Northwest region and beyond.
TWC Home Improvements
TWC Home Improvements is a FENSA-approved family-run business with over 30 years of combined experience, specialising in high-quality windows, doors, conservatories, orangeries, extensions and porches.
Based in Swindon, our GGF and Ultra installer-accredited business operates throughout Wiltshire and Oxfordshire.
Customers benefit from building solutions tailored to their properties, backed by a 20-year guarantee and a commitment to transparency, customer care and professional installation. The business was founded on the principle that exceptional customer service is just as important as delivering high-quality home improvements. In a sector often criticised for poor communication and inconsistent service, we go beyond installation to offer customers unparalleled care and set new standards.
Our goal is to build long-standing trusting relationships by offering real-time communication and exceptional support throughout the customer journey. To facilitate this, we launched an industry-first WhatsApp channel, creating project-specific groups that include the relevant account manager, designer, surveyor, directors and installation and compliance managers. This gives customers 24/7 access to their project team, ensuring timely professional responses and removing communication bottlenecks.
Our team is central to everything we do. With only three resignations among 65 employees over the past 18 months, our staff retention is exceptionally strong. We employ all of our own installers, and we’ve invested heavily in staff training focused on communication skills and service excellence. Regular refresher courses ensure our team remains knowledgeable and empathetic, reflected in the high-quality levels of service and the feedback we receive. On Google and Trustpilot we maintain a 4.7-star average rating. Reviews frequently mention team members by name, highlighting our professionalism and responsiveness. Looking ahead, we’re launching customer portals to provide greater transparency and convenience. As we look to expand into new regions, we’ll carry forward these same high standards ensuring customers receive the exceptional service TWC is known for.
Ventrolla

Based in Harrogate, Ventrolla was founded in 1983 by Robert Tunnicliffe, a former Ford Motors engineer. Ventrolla was born from his quest to resolve draught issues in his own home. What began as a handmade prototype evolved into the world’s first Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) and Sash Removal System (SRS).
Designed to eliminate draughts, rattles and dust ingress, the VPSS was awarded the prestigious Design Council Award (Engineering Components) shortly after its invention. This system, along with the SRS, remains central to Ventrolla’s distinguished offering over 40 years later.
With over 100 staff, and 60 of those based in Yorkshire, Ventrolla specialises in retrofit, prioritising restoration and renovation over replacement. By combining traditional craftsmanship with leading innovations, the specialist joiners on the team balance sympathetic conservation with advanced sustainability. This way, Ventrolla can protect and subtly transform the UK’s most beautiful buildings with precision, fastidiousness, and expertise.
For over 40 years, Ventrolla has impacted life for countless people across Yorkshire and further afield. By restoring heritage windows in thousands of homes, schools, hotels, hospitals and civic buildings, these significant heritage properties are now warmer, more energy-efficient and protected from noise pollution, making a healthier and happier environment.
Through its RIBA-approved CPD programme, Ventrolla’s academy has upskilled over 1,000 individuals, and has trained more than 100 master craftsmen, each skilled in traditional techniques and committed to using only the finest materials – including responsibly sourced timber, high-quality glazing and durable hardware. Through this training, Ventrolla has played a key role in upskilling the region, supporting apprenticeships and offering an alternative route to education and job security for people who thrive outside of traditional education, and for people from diverse backgrounds.
Chris Davis
Pro-Frame Window Installations

Chris has played a pivotal role in the first 18 months of our business, handling all Pro-Frame window installations and surveys with precision and professionalism. He manages direct communication with customers, ensuring their requirements are understood and met, and stays late when needed to prepare timely, accurate quotes.
He also coordinates regularly with suppliers to maintain smooth operations and ensure materials are delivered on schedule. Despite the challenges that come with launching a new business, Chris has approached each responsibility with resilience and a positive attitude. His dedication, attention to detail, and commitment to customer satisfaction have been crucial in establishing our reputation for quality and reliability in the window installation industry and our local community achieving a lot of 5* reviews that praise his attitude and dedication.
Eloise Millband
Kettell Windows

Eloise joined Kettell, a family-run Leicester-based windows and doors specialist, as a Business Administration Apprentice, completing her qualification with distinction from Loughborough College in July 2025. Since then, she has become an indispensable team member, contributing across marketing, sales, and operations in ways that far exceed expectations for someone at her career stage.
What distinguishes Eloise is her remarkable initiative and entrepreneurial mindset. She actively identifies opportunities for improvement and acts on them with confidence. Her apprenticeship project saw her research, trial and implement an AI-powered chatbot for customer service – likely the first in Leicestershire's double glazing industry. Though ultimately removed due to technical limitations with complex product queries, the innovation demonstrated forward-thinking rare in this traditionally slow-to-adapt sector, and her groundwork continues benefiting marketing and operational efficiency.
Eloise's commercial impact has been transformative. Despite entering the business with no industry knowledge, she has mastered the technical complexity of windows, doors, and configurations, generating £75,000 in incremental sales since January 2025. She confidently guides customers through complicated specifications, recently spending over three hours designing multiple door options with one couple. Her largest sale – £6,300 for a composite door and two garage doors – involved a near-new product line, yet she persevered and closed the deal. In a male-dominated competitive landscape, she's proving what young people can achieve with determination and proper support.
Beyond sales, Eloise has eliminated operational bottlenecks in order processing, contributing to 25% year-on-year sales growth, whilst her social media content drives consistently increasing engagement.
Most inspiring is Eloise's personal journey – managing anxiety whilst building confidence in customer-facing roles demonstrates resilience that inspires everyone around her. She represents the future of small business success. We are super proud to have her in the Kettell Team!
Riley Fagan
Kettell Windows

In an industry facing a critical shortage of skilled installers, Riley demonstrates the exceptional results possible when companies invest in nurturing new talent. Having recently completed his Level 2 Installer Apprenticeship with distinction, Riley exemplifies the next generation of fenestration professionals who will shape the future of our industry.
Riley serves as a Fitter's Mate at Kettell Windows, supporting high-end residential installations while rapidly progressing toward independent working. His role encompasses technical installation work, service support, customer handovers, and even marketing initiatives – demonstrating versatility that extends far beyond traditional installer responsibilities. What truly distinguishes Riley is his unwavering commitment to quality standards and the professional courage to uphold them.
Riley's work ethic is exemplary. He regularly arrives early and stays late to ensure installations are completed on schedule, maintains a positive attitude through challenging weather conditions, and proactively seeks guidance during his training to achieve his distinction qualification. He now works independently on installations and collaborates with fellow apprentice Jack, building the skilled workforce capacity our industry desperately needs.
Looking forward, Riley's ambition is clear: to continue developing his skills and ultimately establish his own fenestration company. His journey demonstrates that when businesses invest in apprenticeships and comprehensive training, they don't just fill immediate workforce gaps – they cultivate passionate professionals committed to long-term careers in our industry. We all know this industry needs more of this!
Chris Blanks
Elwyns

Chris Blanks has had a significant and lasting influence on the fenestration industry through decades of hands-on experience, innovation, and a commitment to quality and customer care. Since taking over Elwyns in 2000, he has transformed the family business from a small DIY-focused shop into a multi-showroom, award-winning company serving Surrey, South London, and the South East.
He has successfully guided the business through major industry changes, from the early days of secondary glazing to the introduction of modern PVC-U and the latest energy-efficient products. By working closely with market-leading manufacturers and staying at the forefront of technological and environmental innovation, Chris has ensured Elwyns continues to offer customers the best solutions in a fast-evolving market.
A key part of his influence has been raising standards in customer experience. He moved away from high-pressure selling, introducing showrooms where clients can make informed decisions in a relaxed, professional environment. His vision of having staff act as design consultants, offering impartial advice across a wide range of products, has set a benchmark for service excellence within the industry. Every customer receives detailed quotations, drawings, and clear introductions to their installation team, ensuring transparency and peace of mind.
Chris has also built strong partnerships with leading manufacturers and nurtured a loyal, highly skilled workforce. His approach to staff development, mentoring, and comprehensive in-house training has created a family-oriented culture that values teamwork, integrity, and pride in workmanship.

Gary Jones
Glevum Windows

For more than 40 years, Gary Jones has been a transformative, pioneering, and widely respected figure within the fenestration industry. As founder of Glevum Windows in 1984, he helped shape the standards, expectations, and professional identity of the home improvement and new-build glazing sectors across Gloucestershire and the surrounding counties. His early commitment to creativity and high-quality communication set new benchmarks for industry marketing, most notably through the memorable ‘Class Behind Glass’ campaign featuring Melinda Messenger and the much-loved Three Little Pigs radio adverts, both of which helped cement Glevum as a trusted regional brand.
Gary’s career has been defined by innovation and forward-thinking leadership. He was among the first to introduce conservatories into major housebuilder upgrade packages in the 1990s, bringing a new level of choice and quality to new-build customers. Under his guidance, Glevum became the first company approved under the BBA-inspected installer scheme for the new-build market and later the first window and door firm to achieve Green Deal accreditation through FENSA – clear demonstrations of his commitment to raising industry standards in compliance, sustainability, and technical excellence.
His investment in digital transformation was equally influential. The launch of the Glevum New Build Portal in 2015 modernised workflow, improved communication with developers, and delivered process transparency years ahead of broader industry adoption.
Alongside commercial success, Gary fostered a culture rooted in safety, customer care, and continuous improvement, resulting in numerous national and regional awards across technology, customer satisfaction, and installation quality. His strong community engagement – from Gloucestershire Crimestoppers to the Severn Sound Money Mountain – has further enhanced the reputation of both Glevum and the wider fenestration sector.
Dedicated, innovative, and service-driven, Gary Jones leaves a lasting legacy of improved standards, better customer experiences, and genuine industry progress.

Roger Harshorn
Garnalex

A stalwart of the fenestration industry, with a career spanning almost 50 years, Roger’s reputation precedes him. Not only is he listened to and respected by his peers, but he is well-regarded within the workplace, fostering environments that are genuinely a pleasure to be a part of.
From starting out as a toolroom apprentice to leading a management buyout and ultimately launching three successful systems houses spanning both PVC-U and aluminium sectors, Roger has done it all.
While at Eurocell and Liniar, Roger successfully launched market-leading products. He later replicated this at Sheerline, which has arguably helped to reinvigorate a stagnant aluminium sector through continuous development, innovation, and clever solutions.
But he never forgot where he started, and has been a champion of apprenticeships at each systems house in a bid to nurture and foster the next generation of fenestration talent. It isn’t just apprentices that Roger supports though.
Many of the team who helped launch Sheerline had previously worked for Roger and moved with him. Some of the people working at Sheerline now have worked with Roger for 10, 20, 30 years or more.
Roger’s career trajectory illustrates precisely what can be achieved with hard work, a solid business strategy, an ambitious vision, and a committed, knowledgeable team.
Shauna Brett
Emerald Windows & Doors

In a sector that often celebrates the loudest voices, Shauna Brett stands out for a different reason: quiet, consistent impact. As general manager of Emerald Windows and Doors, she has reshaped what a family-run fenestration installer can achieve through culture, clarity, and people-first strategy.
During Covid, when many paused operations, Shauna strengthened them. She redirected focus toward digital resilience – writing homeowner-first blogs, improving SEO foundations, and reducing agency reliance to protect cashflow. Enquiries rose by 176% year-on- year between June 2019 and June 2020, and many of those pages still convert today – demonstrating lasting value and a model other local installers now reference.
Operationally, she delivered a four-day working week for installers, rare in fenestration, managing rota design, customer messaging, KPI tracking, and feedback loops. Productivity held, morale rose and retention improved. Suppliers and peers now ask about that system, recognising it as a sustainable blueprint for modern employment in the industry.
Shauna is also the connective tissue within the company, liaising with suppliers, supporting installers, coordinating appointments, recruiting internally, and smoothing bottlenecks before they become problems. When Emerald’s installation manager recently took extended leave, she absorbed those responsibilities alongside her own to maintain efficiency and customer service without disruption.
Beyond process, she develops people. Under her mentorship, Emerald’s marketing matured into a confident engine, with stronger SEO, record-performing blogs, and a TikTok presence that passed one million views in its first year.
Shauna doesn’t seek attention, but her influence is undeniable. She proves that advancement in fenestration isn’t just about product or price; it’s about people, systems, and trust. Recognising her would spotlight the kind of leadership that quietly moves the industry forward, every single day.
