Hazlemere Window Co

The Hazlemere team thoroughly enjoyed working on this project to transform a 1950s bungalow that needed some love into the dream forever home for a couple moving into Oxfordshire. We began initial discussions with the couple ahead of exchange of contracts, and once they were in a position to proceed, our designer created a 3D walkthrough showing exactly how the existing small, dark rooms could be re-modelled to deliver a light and airy space incorporating an open plan kitchen, dining and living area for the sociable family.

Importantly, the design also made the most of the stunning views to the rear of the property, using clever configuration of the living space, plus the addition of a large picture window, so the open countryside vista can now be enjoyed from throughout the ground floor. It's been a delight to re-visit the property now the decorating and final touches have been added, and we are all thrilled to see our fabulous clients settled into their beautiful home.

Jewel Home Group

Faced with an outdated, uninsulated conservatory, the client wanted a bright, stylish, and energy-efficient space she could enjoy all year. Previously only usable in summer, the room needed a complete thermal and aesthetic upgrade.

The solution combined heritage charm with modern performance. Two heritage windows and a matching heritage door deliver traditional character with high-performance double glazing (U-values 1.3–1.5 W/m²K), slimline frames, and authentic detailing. A Cortizo aluminium sliding patio door floods the space with natural light, offering ultra-slim sightlines, smooth operation, and excellent thermal efficiency (U-values ~1.2 W/m²K).Completing the transformation, a Warmer Roof system provides superior insulation, integrated ventilation, and structural stability, turning the former conservatory into a comfortable, all-season extension (U-values 0.15–0.18 W/m²K).

Every product meets UK regulatory standards, including BS EN 14351-1, PAS 24, BS 6375, and Building Regulations Parts L and B. Installation was carried out by trained, certified installers under FENSA, following manufacturer guidelines to ensure air-tight sealing, thermal efficiency, safety, and long-term durability.

The result is a seamless integration of heritage and contemporary design. The extension now balances visual appeal, comfort, and energy performance, providing a room that is stylish, practical, and fully compliant. The AI-generated design visual perfectly predicted the outcome, reflecting the precision of planning, specification, and workmanship that defines this project.

Radcliffe Glass & Windows

Our clients, Mr and Mrs Brown, approached RADGAW with the ambition of transforming the rear of their property through a contemporary single-storey extension. Their vision included a complete reconfiguration of the existing rear floorplan, with the aim of creating a bright and spacious environment that combined open-plan living with subtle, thoughtfully designed separation between key areas. They desired a space that felt modern while retaining a timeless, enduring character.

To bring this concept to life, the project required significant structural work. Several internal and external supporting walls had to be removed in strict compliance with Building Regulations, ensuring the extension would be both secure and seamlessly integrated with the original structure. Throughout the process, it was essential that the new layout enhanced natural light, flow, and functionality within the home.

After visiting our showroom, the Browns were immediately drawn to the Origin Aluminium Soho collection. Its sleek lines, refined industrial aesthetic, and versatile specification perfectly matched their brief and offered an ideal solution for both the internal partitions and the external glazing. The collection’s distinctive style helped define the character of the new space while allowing light to move freely throughout the extension.

For the roof design, the clients selected our Lightweight Tiled Warm Roof system. However, they expressed a desire for a brighter interior than traditional Velux roof lights typically deliver. To meet this requirement, we recommended a hybrid warm roof configuration, combining the thermal benefits of a solid roof with the enhanced illumination provided by larger integrated glazing panels. This tailored approach ensured the completed extension achieved the light-filled, elegant atmosphere the clients envisioned.

Reddish Joinery

Our client Jill wanted a traditional, period-correct orangery that enhanced her home while creating a seamless view of the garden. It was essential that every detail complemented the character of the property, so we designed Georgian-style windows with flush casement frames and dummy casements for a perfectly balanced, elegant finish.

The entire structure, including bespoke gutters, fascia and fluted corner posts were crafted from Accoya timber, chosen for its exceptional stability, sustainability, and 50-year warranty against timber decay. We also produced a made-to-measure Accoya roof lantern with integrated lighting and 1.0 U-value solar-control glazing. Coastal marine-grade 316 stainless steel hardware was selected for long-lasting durability.

The result is a beautifully detailed orangery that blends period charm with modern performance, built by certified Accoya specialists with a focus on quality and longevity.

Stafford uPVC Windows

Stafford uPVC Windows is proud to present this full-build conservatory project – a complete transformation of an outdated, unusable conservatory into a bright, modern, year-round living space. The homeowners wanted an extension that delivered abundant natural light, seamless garden access, and the flexibility to include a log burner for cosy, all-season use.

From the outset, we worked closely with the clients, producing a detailed 3D design model to help them visualise the final space. During the assessment, we identified that the existing conservatory sat on unstable ground, which posed a significant structural risk. To ensure long-term stability and full compliance with building standards, we installed pile-driven foundations – providing a robust base capable of supporting a habitable extension.

With secure foundations in place, we constructed the new conservatory using high performance glazing, including self-cleaning roof glass, to maximise natural light. Large picture windows and sleek bifold doors were incorporated to create an effortless indoor-outdoor connection. Both internal and external lighting were installed to ensure the space remains inviting day and night. The design also allowed for a flue installation, enabling the clients to fit a log burner and enhance year-round comfort.

The finished build is a contemporary, energy-efficient extension that blends naturally with the existing home. It delivers exceptional daylight, thermal comfort, and modern aesthetics – turning what was once an unusable room into a versatile living space suited to family life in every season.

TP Improvements

This project highlights a modern new build project showcasing minimalist architecture integrated with advanced glazing solutions. Designed by Arc8 Projects Architects, the home is in a green, scenic area and emphasises sustainability, natural light, and energy efficiency while maintaining a refined, contemporary aesthetic. TP Improvements was commissioned to supply and install all sliding doors, windows, and a custom glass courtyard area. They used high-performance slimline aluminium glazing systems chosen for both their sleek design and strong environmental credentials.

Key features include:
• Ultra-slim 20mm aluminium frames for minimal visual obstruction and maximum durability
• Thermally broken frames and energy-efficient glazing
• Smooth sliding doors to enhance indoor-outdoor living and natural ventilation
• A structural glass courtyard to boost solar gain and distribute daylight
• Use of recyclable materials to support low-impact construction

Sustainability was at the heart of the project, with a focus on reducing the environmental footprint by using recyclable aluminium and energy-efficient glazing. These features not only enhanced visual appeal but also contributed to lower energy consumption and a more comfortable living environment. The project was recognised at the South East Energy Efficiency Awards 2025 for ‘New Build Project’ due to its strong focus on energy efficiency.

The finished home is a prime example of how contemporary design and sustainability can align. The slimline glazing enhances aesthetics, functionality, and environmental responsibility, connecting indoor spaces with the outdoors while promoting energy-efficient living.

YES Glazing Solutions (Cheltenham project)

This project was a full-scale, high-spec glazed extension commissioned by a homeowner seeking to dramatically expand and modernise their living space. The existing building line was modest, and the extension’s ambition was to deliver a light-filled, open-plan area that fused indoor and outdoor living. The brief emphasised large spans of glazing, minimal frame intrusion, and a high-quality finish that would elevate the home rather than slavishly mimic a simple conservatory.

The client wanted the extension to feel like a purpose-built architect-designed volume, rather than an ‘add-on’. It needed to look sleek and contemporary, provide excellent thermal performance, and integrate with the garden in a visually elegant way. In addition, the space was expected to serve multiple functions: as a dining area, a family lounge and an entertaining zone – meaning natural light, versatility of circulation, and a sense of continuity with the main house were all important.

YES Glazing Solutions was engaged early in the design process to provide consultancy, specification, and installation. Their task was to deliver glazing and structural systems that would maximise visual openness while ensuring the extension met building regulations, energy efficiency targets, and real-world usability. The client also requested a bespoke look rather than off-the-shelf windows or doors – they wanted something that would feel tailored, high-end and permanent.

Conservatech Home Improvements

This project showcases how thoughtful technical expertise and customer focused design can elevate a standard installation into an exceptional home transformation. The client originally requested a simple lean-to conservatory, a practical, mono-pitch extension that would add usable space. However, during the technical survey our technical director, Eric, identified significant limitations in the proposed design, particularly the restricted frame height and reduced sense of internal volume.

Rather than deliver a space that might feel compromised, Eric discussed an alternative solution with the customer: a warm deck orangery. This approach offered a far superior outcome, providing both architectural elegance and dramatically improved performance. By opting for a warm deck roof system, the client benefited from excellent thermal efficiency, ensuring the new room would be comfortable and functional all year round.

The orangery design also allowed for a much higher frame height, instantly transforming the proposed space into a bright airy living area with increased volume and a more substantial presence. It not only complemented the existing property but enhanced it, creating a feature that feels fully integrated rather than added on.

The client embraced the recommendation, trusting our team's technical knowledge and commitment to delivering the best possible solution. The final installation stands as a testament to the skill, care, and forward-thinking approach that define our work. What began as a routine brief resulted in a high-quality, future-proofed living space that truly reflects the standards celebrated by the industry.

Horizon Home Improvements

This project showcases our ability to deliver exceptional craftsmanship on one of the most technically demanding residential installations we have completed. The original structure – a single-glazed timber conservatory with an unusually complex 16-facet curved front and multi-angled parapet wall – required a complete transformation into a modern, high-performance sunroom that still respected the cottage’s character and courtyard setting.

Recreating the curved elevation was a defining challenge. Our team carried out meticulous surveying to achieve absolute accuracy, allowing us to install custom VEKA Halo contour profile frames and a fully welded curved cill for a seamless finish with outstanding long-term stability. These bespoke details elevated both the look and performance of the new structure.

The roof demanded equally specialist expertise. Cut entirely on site to match the unique footprint, it incorporated two large, perfectly aligned rooflights supported by structural steels. Bespoke firrings were crafted to create controlled falls that directed water both to the gutter and around the rooflights – preventing the water-pooling issues typical of flat roofs. The EPDM Permaroof membrane was then installed with precise falls and extended over the parapet wall to permanently resolve historic leaks, finished elegantly with stone coping tiles.

This project highlights our ability to take on complex, curved, and highly bespoke structures – delivering a sunroom that blends seamlessly with its surroundings and is engineered to perform for decades.

Jewel Home Improvements

This project showcases Jewel Home Group’s ability to transform an outdated, seasonally limited conservatory into a high-performance, year-round living space through thoughtful design, regulatory compliance, and sustainable practice. The homeowner approached us after finding her original conservatory too cold in winter and uncomfortably hot in summer. She wanted a modern, fully usable extension without rebuilding from scratch, retaining the existing base while significantly improving comfort and efficiency.

Working collaboratively with the client, we designed a solution centred on a fully insulated 3300 x 3400 Warmer Roof system and a high-spec three-part Smart 1000 bifold door in anthracite grey, glazed with 4mm toughened safety glass. This combination allowed us to open the space visually, improve natural light, and create a modern connection to the garden while achieving exceptional thermal performance. Internally, the roof was completed with plastered finishes, inset spotlights, and bespoke box gutters for seamless integration with the property.

Every product and installation stage was delivered in full compliance with UK Building Regulations, including Parts A, B, and L. The Warmer Roof achieved excellent U-values, with all components CE-marked and fire-rated to BS 476, while glazing met BS EN 12150 safety standards. Our qualified installers followed strict manufacturer specifications, ensuring robust structural integrity, airtightness, and long-term durability.

Sustainability was central to the design. By retaining the existing structure, using recyclable materials, and integrating high-performance insulation and glazing, the installation significantly reduced heat loss, energy consumption, and waste.

The result is a bright, modern, and comfortable room that delivers year-round usability, an exemplary demonstration of Jewel Home Group’s craftsmanship, innovation, and customer focused design.

Stafford uPVC Windows

Stafford uPVC Windows proudly delivered a remarkable upgrade: converting a complex timber-framed conservatory with a dated polycarbonate roof – once a simple link between house and annex – into a modern, fully insulated living space. The project featured a SupaLite tiled roof system and brand-new PVC-U frames, creating a stylish, energy-efficient extension.

The conservatory posed several issues. The property had an unconventional layout with a large gable front, and suffered from poor insulation and weak thermal performance, as well as fungus growing from timber beams. The brief demanded year-round comfort, improved energy efficiency, preserved garden views, and a natural flow between house and annex.

Working with the homeowner and SupaLite, our team designed a bespoke scheme to overcome the structure’s awkward shape.

The conservatory is now a fully integrated living area rather than a passageway. With superior insulation and weatherproofing, it offers year-round comfort and durability. The transformation balances practicality with aesthetics, giving the family a warm, inviting space that respects the original layout while delivering modern performance and longevity.

Bereco Retail

Bereco delivered a beautifully detailed and highly personalised entrance door installation for a residential property, combining traditional craftsmanship with carefully considered modern performance. The clients approached Bereco seeking a secure, stylish and energy efficient replacement for their original door, and needed a supplier capable of handling a complex brief while preserving the character of their home.

Working in close collaboration with the homeowners, Bereco developed a design that balanced aesthetics, practicality and security. The final specification featured a Traditional timber entrance door with matching sidelights and a fanlight, all built around a substantial 68mm door leaf for long-term stability and performance. A multi-point locking system and 3-star security cylinder were incorporated to meet the clients’ priorities for protection and peace of mind.

One of the most distinctive aspects of the project was the glazing design. The clients wished to introduce a new decorative pattern that respected the character of their original door while benefiting from modern insulated glazing. To achieve this, Bereco worked closely with them to create a bespoke combination of coloured glass, decorative leadwork and Stippolyte obscure glazing. The coloured glass and primary lead pattern were positioned on the external pane, while the Stippolyte obscure glass formed the centre layer of the unit. Because the patterned centre pane softened the appearance of the leadwork when viewed from indoors, a supplementary internal lead pattern was added to the inner pane. This ensured the design remained crisp and visible from inside the property – an approach tailored uniquely for this installation.

The finished entrance offers an elegant, characterful focal point for the home, enhancing its appearance while delivering modern security, energy efficiency and long-lasting performance.

Emerald Windows & Doors

This project began as part of a Christmas community giveaway, where local homeowners Chris and Tasha were selected from hundreds of entries to receive a fully installed composite door at no cost. What started as a festive campaign quickly became a full transformation of their home’s entrance.

Their existing PVC-U door had become unstable over time, especially when regularly slammed by their children, and was causing both heat loss and concern over long-term security. The curved entranceway of the property naturally draws focus to the front of the home, so this installation aimed not just to replace a door, but to create a defined feature that suited the architecture and day to day use of the property.

For this installation, a Comp Door Winslow 3 was fitted alongside Elmhurst glazed side and top screens with clear toughened glass. The colour was refined during a showroom consultation to French Grey, chosen for its ability to add definition to the entrance while remaining in harmony with the exterior palette of the home. The result was more than just a visual improvement. The homeowners immediately noticed a warmer hallway, a stronger sense of security, and a complete removal of the ‘wobble’ that had characterised their old door.

The installation also provided environmental benefits. The timber core is sourced under a system where new trees are planted for each one harvested, and the outer frame contains recycled PVC-U. The previous door was collected for recycling, supporting reduced waste and responsible material reuse. With improved insulation and reduced heat loss, the installation is expected to help lower energy demand during colder months.

The project successfully combined aesthetic improvement, sustainability and everyday practicality, resulting in a feature entrance that the homeowners can feel proud to return to each day.

GHW Windows

The homeowners approached GHW Windows seeking a show-stopping entrance that would completely transform the kerb appeal of their contemporary home in Windermere in the Lake District. While delivering the highest standards of security and thermal performance. Their vision was for a bold architectural focal point – something that seamlessly blended warmth and natural material tones with the home’s modern black cladding and clean exterior lines. The brief centred on creating a feature entrance that felt grand yet welcoming, using a premium product that did not compromise functionality.

Abundant natural light was a key priority, so a door system including full-height glass sidelights was essential. The homeowners also wanted a door that incorporated bespoke detailing, including a standout handle and a design aesthetic that aligned with the broader architectural scheme.

GHW Windows worked closely with the clients and architect to refine the final solution. A Spitfire aluminium entrance door, finished in a warm timber-effect exterior with vertical detailing and glazed side panels, was selected as the perfect expression of modern craftsmanship. The result is a striking architectural feature that sets a confident tone from the very first impression – uniting aesthetics, precision engineering, and performance into one exceptional entrance system.

Inspiration Doors

This striking double-door installation showcases the craftsmanship, creativity, and technical capability behind the Inspiration Doors range. Designed as a bold architectural statement, the entrance features two oversized door leaves finished in our signature Oxidised Iron – a hand-applied real-metal coating that delivers depth, texture, and character impossible to achieve with standard powder-coated or composite products. Every panel is individually patinated and sealed by our finishing team, resulting in a sculptural façade that transforms naturally in different lighting conditions.

Measuring 1700 × 2400 mm, the door set is built around a solid engineered core to ensure long-term stability and a smooth, reassuringly weighty operation. The internal faces and Sapele hardwood frame were finished in RAL 9004 (Signal Black) to match the home’s contemporary interior palette. To enhance evening presence, the external bar handle, also finished in RAL 9004, features integrated LED lighting designed to cast a soft glow across the iron surface, showcasing the patina’s natural tonal variations.

Security and usability were equally important to the client, leading to the inclusion of a multi-point locking system, slam-shut auto-lock, and day-latch for practical everyday access. The installation required meticulous alignment work to ensure both oversized door leaves met perfectly, with clean sightlines and a seamless close.

This project represents the very best of bespoke feature-door design: a blend of hand finished artistry, precision engineering, and meticulous installation. The result is a dramatic, museum-quality entrance that elevates the property’s exterior and exemplifies the craftsmanship of Inspiration Doors and the team behind it.

Lightfoot Windows

Lightfoot Windows have been a Crittall steel window specialist since 1935. We take pride in our long-running partnership with Crittall Windows, making us the largest and most experienced Crittall specialist within the Crittall network.

This project showcased Lightfoot’s expertise in Crittall’s products, as they transformed a neglected cottage in an East Yorkshire conservation area. The client wanted a window and door combi-frame to suit the property’s triangular lean-to roof, to transform the space into a kitchen/diner, side entrance and utility room. The design had to retain the slim profile at the transom drop above the door.

The client was looking for a profile with slim sightlines that would not only become a focal point for their re-built extension but would also stand out from the rest of the glazing in their home, as well as complementing the property style itself. The existing house is detached with a large garden and established trees and planting. Therefore, maximising the amount of natural light into their home and ensuring that the glazing brought an indoor-outdoor feel was crucial to allow unobstructed views of their garden.

Various alterations and extensions had been carried out throughout the building’s history, as well as replacement PVC-U windows and doors being fitted in place of the traditional timber joinery. Whilst retaining the PVC-U glazing in other areas of their home, the clients wanted something special for the re-built extension. After discussing the potential solutions with their architect, the client decided to proceed with authentic Crittall steel. The ultra slim sightlines of the windows allow the maximum amount of natural light to enter any space and the bespoke nature of the product meant it could be tailored to suit their 3.7m-high raked head opening. Since the Crittall product is completely bespoke, a design was created which not only complements their property, but also adds a contemporary feel to the extension, blending a mix of the traditional with the modern. The Corporate W20 profile was chosen as the flexibility and strength in this profile meant that we could not only achieve the height required, but also the shape of the opening itself.

Radcliffe Glass & Windows

RADGAW thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of creating a striking and memorable Grand Entrance for our clients, Mr and Mrs Khan. The central feature of the design was the Spitfire S500 Door, a product known for its ability to be fully customised to suit even the most ambitious specifications. This allowed us to craft a completely bespoke entrance door incorporating a recessed handle, fingerprint keyless entry system, Mountain Pine detailing, and elegant Swarovski crystal accents. These elements combined to deliver an entrance that is both architecturally impressive and distinctly personalised.

To complement the door and enhance the overall visual impact, we paired it with Sunflex UK SEF Slimline Aluminium Window Frames. These frames were used to form a feature aperture designed specifically to showcase the clients’ chandelier, turning it into a focal point visible from outside the property. Additionally, a large picture window was incorporated to maximise the flow of natural light into the hallway, creating a bright, welcoming atmosphere upon entry.

Given the unique nature of the design, the project required multiple rounds of detailed CAD drawings to refine the concept and ensure every component aligned perfectly with the clients’ expectations. Meticulous installation planning was also essential. With high-value products such as the Spitfire door and slimline window system, we took extensive precautions to avoid any damage during delivery and fitting, while prioritising the safety of our installation team.

This project stands as a strong example of Team RADGAW in action, collaborating seamlessly with trusted partners and applying technical expertise to turn a client’s vision into reality. The resulting entrance is not only functional but an impressive architectural centrepiece that the Khans can be proud of for years to come.

Silent View Windows

This entranceway formed the focal point of a full home upgrade carried out by Silent View Windows at a charming stone property in Oxfordshire. The original white door and boxed canopy sat awkwardly beneath a striking four pane window on the first floor, leaving the front elevation feeling unbalanced and disconnected. As part of the wider works, all windows and doors were replaced using French Grey flush casements, which created a consistent rhythm across the façade and allowed the new entranceway to be designed with a clearer architectural purpose.

The homeowners chose a Heritage Lavenham door in French Grey with full height glazed sidelights. This combination reflects the tall proportions of the first-floor glazing above and restores the vertical flow of the elevation. The French Grey finish blends gently into the limestone and creates a soft, heritage led appearance. Clear glazing in the sidelights draws natural light into the hallway and reveals the staircase, giving the entrance a more welcoming and open feel.

The area above the entrance had been altered in the past and was reconstructed during the wider building works. Timber was used in this location to create a visually consistent finish and to avoid the colour and weight issues that come with introducing newly quarried stone into an older façade. This approach is often used on rural Oxfordshire homes where traditional stonework meets modern improvements.

The installation was carried out with care and attention by the Silent View Windows team. Their thoughtful preparation and measured approach ensured the entranceway settled confidently beneath the tall windows above. The result is a balanced and sympathetic upgrade that enhances both the character and comfort of the home.

TWS (Kidderminster)

This project represents an outstanding example of contemporary design, technical precision, and expert installation. The modern aluminium entrance door was conceived to create a grand and inviting focal point, combining architectural elegance with high performance and durability. Every aspect of the project reflects a balance between aesthetic ambition and engineering excellence, resulting in a product that delivers both beauty and practicality.

One of the most distinctive aspects of the installation was the integration of a solid aluminium panel door with a different window system to suit a unique apex opening. This presented a significant design and technical challenge, requiring careful evaluation of multiple system combinations to achieve perfect alignment, superior performance, and a cohesive visual finish. The result is a seamless, well-proportioned entrance that allows natural light to enhance the interior while maintaining strength, balance, and precision.

Security and compliance were key priorities throughout the project. The door incorporates an ACUL285 Slam Lock for automatic multi-point locking, paired with a 3-Star security cylinder for maximum protection. Toughened Planitherm glass adds strength, safety, and thermal efficiency, ensuring the installation meets and exceeds current industry standards.

Sustainability also played a central role in the design. Double rebated weather seals deliver exceptional weather resistance, while advanced thermal performance helps to keep energy use low and interior comfort high. Built from durable aluminium, the door will not bow or fade, maintaining its sleek appearance and value for years to come.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful design, innovation, and skilled installation can transform a functional entrance into a statement of craftsmanship, performance, and modern architectural excellence.

YES Glazing Solutions (Fulham project)

This installation is a high-end residential refurbishment in West London, anchored around a beautifully redesigned, light-filled kitchen conceived by Humphrey Munson Kitchens. The brief for the glazing component called for elegant, slim-framed glazing solutions that would maximise natural light and visual continuity, while blending seamlessly with the sophisticated bespoke cabinetry and interior design. Given the premium finish of the kitchen and the property’s architectural context, the client wanted glazing that provided a strong visual statement without being visually dominant, a balance of refinement and architectural clarity.

Because the home’s layout required both fixed screens and operable doors, the glazing needed to deliver exceptional flexibility. It was important that the systems allowed large expanses of glass to flood the interior with daylight, while maintaining thermal performance, security and long-term durability. The client also sought a materials palette that would integrate with other modern architectural elements, achieving a coherent look throughout.

YES Glazing Solutions was engaged to deliver a glazing solution that would not only meet the functional requirements but also elevate the aesthetic of the space. Their task included specifying, fabricating and installing custom glazing units, combining fixed panels and operable doors to create a seamless interface between internal and external spaces. The final install had to complement the contemporary cabinetry, maintain clean lines, and support the client’s desire for a calm, open and refined living environment.

YES Glazing Solutions (Westerham project)

This standout project in Westerham, Kent, showcases the transformative impact a beautifully engineered feature entrance can have on a full property renovation. The homeowners set out to convert a modest, traditional bungalow into a contemporary, design-led home defined by clean lines, premium glazing and modern architectural detailing. Central to achieving that vision was the installation of a bespoke Steel Core Front Entrance Door, a statement piece designed to deliver exceptional security, smart-home functionality and striking visual appeal.

The entrance door immediately sets the tone for the entire home. Combining a robust steel core with a sleek, modern exterior finish, it offers the highest standards of strength and durability while complementing the steel-look glazing used throughout the property. Its integration with a state-of-the-art fingerprint entry system adds both convenience and sophistication, allowing the homeowners to enjoy keyless access without compromising on security.

The installation required meticulous technical execution due to the weight and performance requirements of the steel-core system. Our installation team ensured full compliance with all regulatory standards, delivering perfect alignment, airtight sealing and seamless integration of the smart-access hardware. The result is a flawlessly finished entrance that is as practical as it is impressive.

This door has become one of the defining elements of the renovation. It creates a genuine sense of arrival, enhances the home’s architectural identity and ties together the property’s wider glazing design, from the elegant steel-look windows to the open-plan internal doors and expansive sliding systems at the rear.

Delivered with craftsmanship, care and attention to detail, this feature entrance door powerfully demonstrates how a single installation can elevate the aesthetic, performance and character of an entire home.

Bereco

The Guard House is an impressive Grade II listed property situated in the centre of the historic city of Winchester. As its name eludes, the property once guarded the entrance to the Peninsula Barracks which were built in the early 20th century and included cells to detain unruly soldiers. The barracks were built on the former King's House site, designed by Christopher Wren but destroyed by fire in 1894.

The Guard House was converted into a residential property in 1995/96, and as a listed property retained many of its period details. It was recently purchased by a new owner after serving as a family home for 18 years. The windows had not been replaced since its renovations in 1996 and many were rotting and coming to the end of their working lifespan. The new owner was renting out the property and was looking at having the windows repaired, however, after receiving an EPC grading of E they decided to look into having triple-glazing in order to improve the thermal efficiency for their tenants.

As a developer, the owner had used Bereco previously on two new build projects that they had completed and was very happy with the service, so they approached us to see how we could help.

Glassier Window Systems

Stillingfleet House, Shaw Street, Worcester was formerly the offices of the Probation Services. This building, part Grade II Listed Georgian with a 1960’s addition, is set right in the centre of the city within a conservation area. The property was acquired by Worcester Municipal Charities, who specialise in providing housing for the homeless and vulnerable, with approval to turn the building into 25 self-contained one-bedroom flats.

As the original Georgian building had a Grade II Listing, the windows to that section had to be renovated or replaced with faithfully recreated timber vertical sliding sash windows. However, the 1960’s addition could have modern double-glazing, so long as it met with the approval of the local Conservation Planners.

The scheme involved the change of use of the original office premises, complete reconfiguration of the interior and construction of new apartment space. The building and its window installation sits on one of Worcester’s busiest throughfares and now blends seamlessly with its surroundings.

Grabex Windows

52 Argyll Road sits within the Kensington Conservation Area. This stunning terraced property was originally built in the late 19th century, and still has plenty of original timber features that date back more than a century. The property was modernised, extended into the basement, and the loft extension added a few years back, and this time the owners decided to finally upgrade all old single-glazed draughty windows and doors, (with owners speculating that they could be at least 70 years old) and approached Grabex, and several other companies, through their builder. After a few meetings where we acknowledged the owners' concerns about working around the traditional features and impressing with our local manufacturing facilities, the owners entrusted us with their project.

The new double glazed timber sash windows had to have slim enough profiles to go in line with the requirements of the conservation area location, new replacement timber French doors had to be close to like-for-like replacement with the hardware slim and flat enough so the historical shutters, when reinstalled back in place, can close fully, without any obstructions. The entire project was to be completed in dual colour with internal finish matching SANDERSON 31 Dusky White (RAL 9001 Cream) in semi-matt, and standard white on the outside. The owners also expected us to help them professionally uninstall all the shutters and carefully re-install them to their original state once the installation of all the windows and doors is completed.

James Wilding

To manufacture doors and windows for a Grade II listed farmhouse and the attached barns, that are being converted into living accommodation. The design of the windows and doors need to be sympathetic to the age and character of the building, but be as energy efficient as possible. To also remove plastic and aluminium windows that were already in the building and replace with more in keeping wooden alternatives.

Timber was specified, as the property is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and listed, so the use of other products, such as UPVC aren't in keeping with the traditional look that they are trying to achieve. The doors and windows had to be in keeping and aesthetically pleasing, retaining character throughout.

Sashed

This project involved the replacement of highly bespoke casement timber windows in a central London mansion block within a Westminster Article 4 conservation area. The first stage involved producing detailed CAD section drawings to submit to the planners for approval to change the windows. All the window frames and sashes featured 'three-centred arches,' so we meticulously templated the existing frames and brick arches. The production survey took a full day for two people, making it the most complex set of joinery we have ever contracted. The new windows had to closely replicate the old windows to obtain planning permission.

This presented a challenge as double glazing increased the weight of the sashes and reduced sight-lines. Ensuring similar sized sash stiles & rails and having the frames sit proud from the sashes were additional challenges due to the incorporation of double glazing while providing adequate draft proofing to comply with approved Doc L.

The location posed a significant challenge as the property was on the 6th floor of a period mansion block. To overcome this, we constructed the frames in two sections, allowing us to transport them up the stairs and into the property. Additionally, the conservation officer requested that the coupling of the frames should not be visible, which prompted us to devise a way to disguise the fact that the windows consisted of two separate frames from the outside view. During installation, the team had to wear harnesses due to the limited external ledge where we could make adjustments to the frames and make good.

Throughout the project, we had to manage the client's architect's very exacting standards and high expectations. Nevertheless, they were very satisfied with the end result of the project.

Standard Patent Glazing Company

Nestled within Wentworth Woodhouse, the Camellia House stands as an emblem of architectural grandeur, designed in the early 19th century by Charles Watson Wentworth, the 2nd Marquess of Rockingham. Its purpose was to cultivate exotic camellia plants from distant lands, symbolic of opulence and refinement. Standard Patent Glazing were specified on the £5 million restoration project for Camellia House, Wentworth Woodhouse, Rotherham, transforming this building which houses some of the oldest camellias in the western world including a tea house and a community cafe. The year-long project restoration of this Georgian Grade II listed building, commencing in August 2022, included the recreation of the original windows, installation of a rainwater harvester and ground source heating systems.

The original cast iron roof trusses were removed, restored back to their original glory and returned into their original place. In February 2023 the building was ready for our Heritage lead-covered patent glazing bars to be fitted with 8.8mm clear laminated glass. As well as the continued works inside the building, major work commenced outside with the restoration of the fountain and car park. The regeneration continued and is expected to open to the public in Spring 2024.

Touchstone Glazing Solutions

Ledston Hall is the first Grade-I listed building in the UK to achieve Listed Building consent to replace its single-glazed, leaded windows with energy efficient, double-glazed alternatives.

There are around 400,000 listed building in England, of which just 2.5% are classified as Grade I – normally reserved for historically important buildings such as cathedrals, castles and town halls.

In 2015, planning permission and listed building consent was awarded to convert the Hall into 10 private dwellings. The glazing to the Hall included a combination of sliding sash windows, genuine leaded lights and steel casements which had been fitted to the parts of the Hall that had stone mullions. This opportunity rested on convincing Historic England that Touchstone’s Insulead and Steelyte glazing system was suitable in look and function to be installed in such a significant historic building.

Approval for Touchstone’s patented Insulead/Steelyte double-glazing system was a key milestone in the renovation of the hall, marking a turning point for upgrading the carbon efficiency of listed heritage buildings nationally.

Being the first Grade I listed building to receive listed building consent for double glazing is without doubt a game-changer for Historic buildings and the glazing industry.

Tyneside Home Improvements

Carrowcroft, an esteemed Grade II listed building, stands proudly within the Romaldkirk Conservation Area in the Pennines, exuding the splendour of 19th-century architectural prowess. This grand residence, a jewel amidst Romaldkirk's coveted properties, is a testament to the village's picturesque allure, making it a highly sought-after locale for discerning residents.

Perched at the western terminus of Romaldkirk village, Carrowcroft bears witness to the Victorian era's architectural opulence, boasting exquisite stone detailing, including the regal full-height bay windows and the semi-octagonal stair tower crowned by a pinnacle roof. Its historical narrative is enriched by subtle extensions over the years, most notably the addition of a spacious timber-framed conservatory.

The custodians of Carrowcroft, with unwavering dedication, have meticulously preserved its legacy, undertaking all endeavours with a keen eye for preserving the original structural integrity. Their ardent pursuit of restoration has been marked by a commitment to reinstating Carrowcroft to its former glory, a labour of love manifested in every meticulous detail.

In this pursuit, an existing conservatory, a later addition to the property, succumbed to the passage of time, rendering it beyond economic repair. Thus, the proprietors embarked on a quest to replace it with a new conservatory extension. This envisioned addition not only promised to elevate the aesthetic of the dwelling but also ensure the space was optimized for contemporary living, all while paying due deference to the Heritage Asset's sanctity through its meticulous positioning.

The execution of the vision necessitated a trio of regulatory approvals: planning permission, listed building consent, and building regulation consent. These requisite clearances stand as a testament to the dedication of the custodians, ensuring that every transformation remains in harmonious concord with the historical essence of Carrowcroft, safeguarding its legacy for generations yet to come.

Arden Windows

Arden Windows supplied and installed all of the bespoke timber windows on the Historic Leybourne Chase Manor House, Clock Tower and Gardener's Cottage. The Manor House was originally built in the 1800s and was the residence of Sir Joseph Hawley, 3rd Baronet, a former racehorse trainer and breeder. It later became a hospital specialising in Mental Health Care.

Once the hospital was decommissioned in 1996 the Manor House stood derelict until it was later purchased by Taylor Wimpey and renovated into luxury apartments. When Taylor Wimpey originally purchased the land to build over 700 properties it was stipulated in the planning conditions that the Grade II Manor House was restored, not only to reach the required aesthetics, keeping in line with the heritage statement, but also had to meet the current UK building regulations and NHBC standards.

Arden Windows Ltd played a key part from the beginning of this project: we surveyed the existing windows and designed a new product that was sympathetic in design to the original windows, as well as meeting the required thermal and security ratings to comply with the present-day building regulations. This meant matching the original profiles on the frames and sashes, producing the drawings to allow Taylor Wimpey to get the designs approved with British Heritage and planning. Once the designs were approved we had the task of manufacturing and installing over 200 windows/doors to non-standard bespoke sections, which meant we had to purchase additional tooling for our CNC machine.

Camel Glass and Joinery

This project aimed to develop an Architectural Showroom, creating a premier destination for showcasing the breadth and sophistication of Camel Glass products and services. The primary goal was to construct a space that not only serves as a dynamic exhibition platform but also as an architectural marvel that reflects the innovative spirit and quality craftsmanship inherent in Camel Glass.

Large, strategically placed glass panels will not only flood the interior with natural light but also provide a seamless transition between the exterior and interior, creating an immersive experience for visitors.

Internally, the layout of the showroom will be meticulously planned to optimise the display of Camel Glass products.

The showroom would aspire to be more than a display space; it would aim to be a testament to the transformative power of architectural glass, positioning Camel Glass as a leader in the industry.

EYG Commercial

The Tree Tops development, just 10 minutes from Hull city centre , is a commercial development like no other. Five timber-built pods, designed in the style of woodland treehouses, challenge the conventional wisdom of what business space should look like.

They are part of Brooklands Property Holdings’ Hesslewood Office Park and, nestled in woodland on the edge of the park, are home to a variety of businesses.

All of the windows and doors in the pods were fabricated and installed by EYG Commercial, using exclusively AluK products.

The developer wanted to maximise the views with floor to ceiling windows, and install bifold doors to fully reveal the glorious parkland setting for their business occupiers, who range from blue chip companies to small start-ups.

The developer wanted the space to be flooded with natural light, to create calm and tranquil workspaces.

The brief was to create something out of the ordinary, that was suited to the grand surroundings of the listed building it is situated within the grounds of, and which blended in seamlessly and yet was practical and attractive to businesses as a commercial let.

Our aluminium window and door systems also filled the brief for being thermally efficient, robustly strong, and secure.

OpenSquare Glazing

Our client was an architect who was adjoining a new build dwelling to his existing refurbished Barnhouse in Hertfordshire, and wanted a structural glass link between the 2 properties.

We designed, supplied and installed this element in under 6 weeks, and while craning the 300kg roof into place, literally had 10mm tolerance to install.

We also installed our slim aluminium open corner pocket doors to the new dwelling, as well as our own rooflights.

Great images online and a raving review from our client, which has led to a very large number of views on our Instagram page, as we had a drone photographer capture the project.

TP Improvements

The project saw the installation of aluminium windows and doors in a textured black finish (Obsidian Black Textured) for a new high street boutique shop in the picturesque village of Lindfield in West Sussex. This included French Doors, Fixed Windows and Casement Windows. The shop has a very sustainable feel, we worked with a builder who uses our services for other projects, and completed all installation work within the time frame for it to be ready for its grand opening.

Tradeglaze (Lincoln)

Lincolnshire property developer and contractor Stirlin Developments appointed Tradeglaze as part of a 4-way Team Lincolnshire collaboration project to supply our award-winning aluminium curtain walling and aluminium windows and aluminium doors for new Duncan & Toplis and Wilkin Chapman LLP offices at Oxley House in Louth.

Oxley House is a landmark in architectural innovation, offering 10,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the art office space. Our role encompassed designing, manufacturing, and installing aluminium curtain walling and windows, leveraging Senior Architectural Systems’ cutting-edge profiles.

The project demanded intricate collaboration and versatility, which we delivered with distinction.

YES Glazing Solutions

Situated in the idyllic town of Sevenoaks, Kent, the Sevenoaks School Window Restoration Project is a remarkable endeavour that seamlessly marries tradition and modernity. The ambitious project involved the replacement of the Crittall Steel W20 single-glazed arch windows with traditional leaded and stained-glass windows, rejuvenating the school's historic charm while enhancing its aesthetic appeal.

Grabex Windows

The customer, Sophisticated Construction Ltd, approached us with the architectural plans for a rear extension to the property in Kingston upon Thames, Southview Warren Park, which featured oversized glazing installed at 2 of its sides meeting neatly to create a corner opening. So far none of the systems could meet their design brief, as there were a few further requirements that had to be met. The extension was to become a spa room opening to the garden, and housing a sauna, steam room, large lounge area and connected to the swimming pool and gym area. No particular system was specified, so the customer came to us looking for recommendations.

Overall architectural slimline aesthetic was of the utmost importance to the customer. The planned corner glazed doors featured 5 oversized panels of the total length of 12.5m, and the other shorter side of 7.5m consisted of 3 panels, with triple track specified, and with the glass-to-glass connection of the fixed panels being crucial to the overall aesthetic! Only 2 of the panels at both sides were to be motorised. The doors also had to be in the custom RAL 1013 Oyster White (to complement the look of the stone finish of the extension)and in marine grade coating due to the character of the extension.

Horizon Architectural Glazing

We successfully executed the comprehensive design, survey, and installation of 25 windows, 4 raked frames, 4 single doors, and 4 sets of lift-and-slide doors for a sustainable property and its annex, offering panoramic views of the Cornish coast.

Our mandate was to ensure the optimal efficiency of all products in alignment with passive Haus standards, concurrently maximising the property's scenic vistas of the bay. Emphasis was placed on seamlessly integrating the frames into the architecture, minimising visible outer frames, and harmonising with the charcoal cladding and green eco roofs.

Addressing the client's technological preferences, we prioritised features such as keypad entry for effortless access, catering to the client's and their family's convenience and security requirements.

Given the substantial incorporation of steel elements within the structure, our expertise extended to the cladding of these steels, ensuring a flawlessly cohesive finish across the entire facade. This task was particularly critical in the expansive corner gable section of the property, where a seamless integration was paramount for aesthetic and structural considerations.

James Wilding Joinery

To manufacture doors and windows for a Grade II listed farmhouse and the attached barns, that are being converted into living accommodation. The design of the windows and doors need to be sympathetic to the age and character of the building, but be as energy efficient as possible. To also remove plastic and aluminium windows that were already in the building and replace with more in keeping wooden alternatives.

Timber was specified, as the property is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and listed, as the use of other products such as uPVC aren't in keeping with the traditional look that they are trying to achieve. The doors and windows had to be in keeping and aesthetically pleasing, retaining character throughout.

Lightfoot Windows (Kent)

This was a complete renovation of a 4,610 square foot semi-detached house. Working alongside both the interior designers and main contractors, we were tasked with designing and installing a series of internal and external Crittall steel screens and doors, the majority of which needed to be fire-rated.

PL Glazing

The glazing on this project was part of a full property renovation on a Victorian terrace house in Fulham. The brief we were given for the glazing was to upgrade the existing box sash windows and timber doors, replacing like-for-like designs with new double-glazed units, in place of the exiting single glazed units. The intention was to match the design, due to planning requirements, but improve the energy efficiency and thermal performance of the glazing. We were also asked to provide new glazed units in the shape of an external steel heritage style doors from the kitchen to the rear garden, a large roof lantern in the kitchen and a flat rooflight on the roof, over the staircase. Internally, we were instructed to install a heritage style glazed wall and door in-between the entrance hallway and living room and a fixed screen between the hallway and kitchen. The intention of both these units was to create a physical division between the two spaces, but allow light flow in areas that would otherwise be dark. Ultimately the client wanted to modernise a previously tired looking space that had not been renovated for many years and improve the energy efficiency of the entire property.

Style Windows

Style Windows was honoured to collaborate with Godel Architects on a ground-breaking project that sought to transform high-end living experiences in Jersey. Situated in a stunning coastal location, the design intent was to create a residence that would serve as a seamless extension of its natural surroundings without compromising the energy efficiency. The architectural vision was focused on minimalist framing to maximise the breath-taking panoramic views, large spans of glass to invite the outdoors in, and intricate detailing to ensure the highest levels of performance, weather resistance and aesthetics.

Our brief was to bring this vision to life through meticulous design, supply, and installation of suitable glazing products and this demanded a high level of precision, given the significant structural deflections that had to be accommodated without compromising on the minimalist aesthetic. The large spans of glass were not just an architectural feature but also a complex engineering challenge, requiring innovative solutions to handle the weight and size of the glass while maintaining the integrity of the structure.

Quality, workmanship, and design were of paramount importance, and our team was committed to meeting these high standards. We were selected for this ambitious project due to our reputation for exceptional quality, long-standing supplier partnerships, and a proven track record in delivering similar high-end projects in Jersey. The project was a significant construction undertaking where every element, from the framing to the glass specifications, had to be executed flawlessly to meet the exacting standards set by both the client and the design team.

The project was a harmonious blend of design intent and engineering excellence, aiming to create a residence that would set a new benchmark for high-end comfort, aesthetics and functionality.

Thames Valley Windows

Nestled within Lower Bourne’s most sought-after private roads, amongst beautifully landscaped gardens, sat a dated, detached bungalow in desperate need of attention and a design overhaul - both inside and out.

Following the purchase of the house in 2020, the new owner saw huge potential to extend and renovate the property, creating a perfect family home while elevating its specification to the same standard as neighbouring houses.

The core elements of the client’s brief, given to Kate Stobbart Architects detailed the desire to design a highly sustainable, contemporary home. In order to achieve this, the client thought it necessary to install minimal architectural glazing solutions. Not only did the windows and doors being fitted throughout the whole property need to offer slim sightlines and ample natural light, but they wanted the glazing systems to connect living spaces with the outdoors, offering panoramic views across the garden and connecting Surrey countryside.

It was also outlined that the new property must comply with the Farnham Design Statement, Farnham Neighbourhood Plan Policy, FNP16 Extensions, and FNP1 New Development and Conservation, while still being in keeping with the surrounding areas. Due to the bespoke nature of the property’s design and the requirements to be met, new made-to-measure windows and doors were needed for the project, and Thames Valley Windows were highly recommended to the client, by the builders already working alongside them.

Vernon UPVC and Joinery

The project was separated into 2 phases;

In phase 1 we installed black uPVC windows which provides a striking visual. The incorporation of dummy casements adds architectural charm and the two uPVC glazed doors contribute to an open and bright interior.

Phase 2 consisted of the installation of a glass curtain wall paired with a bifold door, a distinctive shape frame, and the strategic concealment of steel posts in uPVC presents a design synergy that achieves a seamlessly integrated and contemporary aesthetic. The glass curtain wall fills the spaces with natural light while fostering a visual connection between indoors and outdoors. Complemented by a bifold door, this setup offers flexibility, seamlessly merging interior and exterior environments. The shape frame not only enhances the overall architectural appeal but also adds a touch of sophistication. We concealed the steel posts in uPVC which contributes to a unified and sleek appearance while also ensuring durability and resistance to the elements. This installation creates a seamless and modern look whilst also prioritizes functionality. The dual-door design of the French entrance door not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also allows for ample natural light, creating a well-lit entryway. With features like multi-point locking systems and energy-efficient glazing, these doors offer both style and practicality.

This combination overall enhances the curb appeal of the property but also ensures energy efficiency and security. We believe that the black uPVC frames creates a bold and sophisticated look.

Coral Windows and Conservatories

Initially the customer had traditional white uPVC windows which had transoms and Georgian bars in them reducing the light, the customer was looking for a more modern style, along with a design which allowed more light into the property. After spending time with our design consultant, they agreed to change the windows to Flush Sash in anthracite grey, along with updating their old metal door to our contemporary composite door in anthracite grey. The soffits and facias were also installed in anthracite grey from the old white uPVC ones.

Hayley Windows Design and Installation

Working with a client on their extension project to include a feature glazing element, maximising the lovely views into their garden and brining the outside in.

Jackson Windows

This beautiful Lincolnshire bungalow has undergone a full makeover by replacing all of the windows and doors throughout. It benefits from traditional features and there is great attention to detail throughout the property.

Starglaze Home Improvements

The customer, a recent resident to the neighbourhood, had just acquired their charming new home. They were immediately smitten with the house's architectural style and its ideal location. Eager to put their own stamp on the property, they set their sights on a comprehensive refurbishment project. Their vision for the renovation began with the windows, as they believed that this would serve as an excellent initial step in the transformation.

In discussing the aesthetics of the new windows, the customers expressed their desire for a design that was simultaneously modern, stylish, and contemporary. After exploring various options, they ultimately decided on our 2800 Flush White windows with dummy sashes. This choice perfectly aligned with their vision for a fresh, timeless look that would seamlessly integrate with the house's existing charm and character.

The customer's journey began with a deep appreciation for their new home's character and location, inspiring them to embark on a comprehensive renovation project. CB Installer Training Academy

Whether new to our products or experienced – at our HQ in Sudbury, where they will also see the meticulous manufacture of our solutions first-hand.

We offer two courses: one for our Louvered Pergolas and one for our External Blinds & Awnings, with an option for a back-to-back course, providing in-depth training across all our product ranges, over two days. These courses have been designed to ensure that our trade partners fully understand how to correctly survey, install, adjust and commission our products.

We also provide ‘bite-size’ training videos for all our products via our trade portal, which our installers have access to 24/7. These clear and concise visual training aids were highly welcomed during the pandemic, when our in-person training was unable to take place, and are popular to date, as quick prompts and reminders.

At the end of the training course, all delegates receive a certificate of competency and are added to our approved database of trained installers. These certificates are valid for 12 months, thereby ensuring installers attend regular training sessions to keep up to date as we continually develop and improve our systems.

In addition to marketing purposes, this certificate acts as reassurance for end clients regarding the installer’s ability, which is particularly important when it comes to high-value products. Furthermore, if an installer moves to another company, their certificate is still valid, subsequently adding value to their resume.

Approved installers are recommended to other companies that are unable to install our products themselves – for example, a landscape designer who does not employ an installer, or an existing partner who may not have the personnel available to carry out the installation, thereby providing additional work to our installers.

EYG Commercial

EYG Commercial’s glazing installation on Hull's new ‘Monocle’ development not only generated a feeling of great pride within the company but also demonstrated the firm’s industry-leading skills.

One of Hull’s most recognisable and well-known landmarks, the 1960s office complex, formerly known as Europa House, has been given a new lease of life thanks to a multimillion-pound refurbishment.

Previously glazed in a gold, reflective glazing panels, preventing people from being able to see inside from outside the building, it was transformed with the installation of neutral solar control glass, giving a modern look with the bronze panels and bronze powder-coated trims.

EYG installed 400 1mx2.6m glazed units and 500 gold panels to give a stunning external look.

High-performance, 34.8mm width double glazed units were used to replace single glazing previously, which were each laminated in an 8.8mm neutral solar control finish. The curved nature of the building meant the surveying and planning of installation had to be extremely precise.

A specific curtain walling system had to be chosen, and during installation precision was key. The sheer size and weight of the 400 1mx2.6m glazed units also brought challenges, as the specific required number of glazing panels had to be lifted by crane to each of the six floors during a stage in the development where there was open access through the back of the building.

The windows then each needed to be fitted one at a time from the outside, as the aluminium curtain walling sections were too small for windows to be fitted conventionally from the inside.

There was also limited space outside due to scaffolding, so each of the 400 glazing units had to be picked up by a by a specialist glazing robot from inside the building, then lifted into place.

GHW Windows

The Colwall Care Home in Malvern, developed by LNC Developments, required a complete glazing package that balanced aesthetic appeal, modern performance, and practicality for a large-scale care environment. The brief was to supply and install high-quality windows and doors that would not only deliver long-lasting thermal efficiency but also meet stringent safety, accessibility, and compliance requirements for a care setting.

The project called for products that could seamlessly blend with the attractive, contemporary design of the building while remaining sympathetic to its residential character. The developer wanted the property to feel inviting and homely, rather than clinical, ensuring residents and visitors alike enjoyed a warm and welcoming environment.

In addition, the specification had to account for performance in terms of insulation, soundproofing, and security. For a care home, these elements are essential: residents benefit from a quiet, comfortable living space, while management requires secure, low-maintenance solutions

As the building design featured angled frames and complex structural elements, the glazing installation also needed to demonstrate technical precision. These features provided an opportunity to showcase bespoke fabrication and installation skills, ensuring every window and door was fitted to perfection.

Our challenge was to combine style, practicality, and performance, creating a modern, energy-efficient care facility that would stand the test of time. By working closely with the client, architects, and suppliers, we ensured that the products chosen not only enhanced the building’s external appearance but also created a safe and comfortable living environment for residents, fulfilling the developer’s brief in every detail.

Glevum Windows

This project showcases Glevum Windows’ exceptional delivery of a highly sensitive, technically demanding installation at Horsfall House, a long-established care home and day centre supporting older adults with physical frailties, dementia, and severe memory conditions. The client’s brief required the full replacement of ageing 1990s window units to improve energy efficiency, comfort, safety, and the overall living environment, while ensuring the care home remained fully operational at all times. This meant all work had to be carried out with minimal noise, disruption, and environmental change, recognising the vulnerability of residents and the importance of maintaining routine.

Glevum selected the Epwin/Profile 22 Optima system for its outstanding thermal performance, weather resistance, and suitability for healthcare settings. Fabricated by Emplas – operating under ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 – the system offered exceptional quality, sustainability and customisation. Emplas’ investment in clean energy and reduced emissions further strengthened the environmental credentials of the project. A full closed loop recycling process was used for all removed PVC-U frames, while glass was processed through the Saint-Gobain Glass Forever programme, delivering meaningful circular economy benefits.

The greatest challenge was the unpredictability of room access due to residents’ health needs. Glevum overcame this with a uniquely flexible programme, supported by real-time coordination with care staff and a standing reserve schedule ensuring installation teams remained productive without disturbing residents.

The result was a fully compliant, on-time, on-budget installation that delivered significant thermal, aesthetic and environmental improvements – enhancing comfort, safety, and wellbeing for everyone at Horsfall House.

Horizon Home Improvements

Saltash Town Council commissioned us to replace the large curtain wall elements at the town library, a listed building of historic significance. The project required careful planning and approvals to ensure every detail – from profile splits and colours to overall design – faithfully replicated the original appearance while integrating modern, high-performance systems.

The scope included five major curtain wall areas, with a core focus on improving the building’s energy efficiency. The upgraded glazing was designed not only to enhance the library’s visual presence but also to deliver tangible benefits for staff and the local community, creating a brighter, more comfortable, and sustainable environment.

Working on a high-profile community building presented significant technical and logistical challenges. Public health and safety were paramount, necessitating detailed site plans, carefully controlled access routes, and rigorous on-site checks to protect both workers and library users throughout the installation.

The listed status of the building added an additional layer of complexity, requiring meticulous attention to detail to ensure the historic character was preserved. Every junction, profile, and finish was scrutinised and executed with precision, balancing heritage requirements with the performance demands of modern glazing technology.

This project exemplifies our ability to deliver technically complex solutions on sensitive, high-profile sites. This customer is a long-term property development partner and we were approached to quote for and carry out significant renovations of a period property current used as a hospital. The project forms part of a major refurbishment of a substantial period property now operated by Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. Our role was to sensitively replace the building’s ageing, deteriorated timber sash windows with modern, energy-efficient PVC-U sash units that preserve the character and heritage of the original architecture.

Phase One, now completed, consisted of the installation of 65 large PVC-U sash windows across the entire ground floor. Phase Two, scheduled for 2026, will include a further 66 windows of similar scale and specification.

The existing timber sashes were severely degraded, with dated double glazing and significant structural wear. Their poor condition resulted in inadequate insulation, low energy efficiency and reduced security, all of which are critical considerations for a healthcare facility accommodating vulnerable patients.

Our solution delivered the best of both worlds: traditional sash styling that maintains the integrity and visual appeal of the beautiful period property, combined with modern performance benefits such as enhanced thermal efficiency, improved security, low maintenance and long-term durability.

This installation demonstrates how thoughtful planning and high-quality PVC-U sash design can sympathetically rejuvenate a historic healthcare building while significantly improving comfort, safety and energy performance for the Trust, staff and patients.

Touchstone Glazing Solutions

Currergate Nursing Home, a Grade II-listed vernacular revival building dating back to 1912, required a sensitive yet effective solution to address the deterioration of its original single-glazed leaded-light windows and steel casements.

With many of the leaded lights at the end of their lifespan bowing, leaking, and suffering from damaged cames and previous failed repairs, as well as the steel casements rusting, distorted, and no longer operable, the brief demanded improved thermal performance, reduced condensation, and enhanced resident comfort, all while preserving the building’s historic character.

Touchstone Glazing Solutions was commissioned to provide a conservation-led approach that would respect the fabric of this important heritage asset. The proposed solution combined Touchstone’s patented Insulead® frameless double-glazing system, which is thermally broken and fully drained, with handcrafted applied-lead detailing and Albion Crowne® glass to replicate the subtle distortion and charm of traditional hand-blown glazing.

For the opening elements, Touchstone’s Steelyte® thermally broken stainless-steel casements provided a durable, low maintenance replacement for the failing originals, visually matched through black powder coating and refined 35mm sightlines. Installation was carefully planned around the routines of this live nursing-home environment, prioritising resident wellbeing, safety, and dignity at every stage. By combining thermal improvement, heritage authenticity, and meticulous onsite coordination, the project successfully delivered a sustainable, compliant, and visually seamless upgrade that safeguards Currergate’s architectural legacy while enhancing comfort for its residents.

Sandymount Windows & Doors

Sandymount Windows & Doors completed a full aluminium window and door installation across seven contemporary new-build homes in Rangeworthy, Bristol. The development featured 81 OW80 aluminium windows, a mix of OB49 single, French, and bifold doors, and seven SE04 front doors with sidelights.

Working closely with West-Tec Construction and Dexter Building Design, we navigated a constantly shifting build schedule and varying external finishes across the plots. Each property required a tailored approach to maintain consistent sightlines, weatherproofing, and overall design integrity.

We partnered exclusively with Origin Global for their fast turnaround, sustainability credentials, and aluminium range that suited both the contemporary brief and the rural setting. Slim sightlines maximised natural light, boosted energy performance, and complemented the homes’ modern aesthetic.

Although the programme extended from seven to 14 months due to construction delays, proactive communication, flexible scheduling, and rapid manufacturing support kept the project moving. Our team effectively became coordinators as well as installers, adapting to evolving site conditions without compromising quality.

The scale and variety of products, mixed façades, and ongoing structural changes made this a technically demanding project. Despite the challenges, all installations met building regulations, accessibility requirements, and security standards including PAS 24 and Secured by Design. Sustainability remained a focus throughout, from recyclable aluminium products to efficient surveying, waste reduction, and reduced site travel.

This project showcases collaborative working, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver high-quality installations within a complex and ever-changing construction environment.

Silent View Windows Commercial

Manor Cottages in Long Crendon presented a rare opportunity to work on a development that blends rural character with modern craftsmanship. Delivered by Silent View Windows Commercial, the commercial division of Silent View Windows, the project involved the complete glazing package for five new-build cottages set beside the historic Long Crendon Manor. The site, once part of the manor’s former stable yard and menage, has long been a recognisable part of the village’s landscape, surrounded by independent shops, a café and a local bakery.

The brief was to supply and install windows and doors that felt rooted in the heritage of the area while offering all the performance expected from a contemporary home. Liniar flush casement windows were chosen for their timber-like appearance, clean sightlines and strong energy credentials, complementing the traditional aesthetic of the cottages. These were partnered with Solidor composite front doors and modern bi folding doors to bring light into the rear living spaces and connect the homes to their landscaped gardens.

Because each cottage had slightly different elevations, dormers and proportions, every window and door had to be surveyed individually by our team. This allowed us to maintain consistency across the terrace while achieving a precise fit for each property. Working on a tight rural site also meant coordinating delivery schedules, scaffolding and installation carefully to avoid disruption to residents, neighbouring businesses and through-traffic into the village.

The finished scheme brings together heritage-inspired design and modern performance in a way that feels natural to the setting. Manor Cottages now sits comfortably within the heart of Long Crendon, echoing the charm of the original manor buildings while providing warm, efficient homes for the next generation.

West Leigh Group

Our client sought to transform a historic Victorian wallpaper factory in West London, restoring its architectural authenticity while meeting modern energy efficiency standards. Originally built with cast iron windows, the building underwent major alterations in the 1980s when W20 steel windows replaced the original design, removing small-pane detailing and panelling curved heads, significantly compromising its heritage character. The brief focused on reinstating the original cast iron aesthetic and distinctive period detailing while achieving improved thermal performance. The challenge was to balance authentic restoration with contemporary sustainability requirements, delivering a solution that met strict U-value targets without sacrificing historical integrity.

To achieve this, we specified 200 Series Steel, which replicates the appearance of cast iron, paired with UK Fineo vacuum-sealed double-glazing units (DGUs). These units offer exceptional thermal performance within an ultra-slim profile – 8mm overall thickness with a 6mm sightline – ensuring discreet integration into the heritage framework.

Key challenges included reconciling Victorian design principles with advanced glazing technology. Our approach reinstated the original small-pane configuration and restored curved window heads, reviving the building’s architectural language. Precision engineering and high-performance materials enabled compliance with sustainability expectations while preserving authenticity.

The project delivered a harmonious blend of heritage and innovation: windows that echo 19th-century craftsmanship yet provides modern comfort and efficiency. Compliance was achieved by satisfying council heritage requirements and combining 1960s steel sections with cutting-edge glazing technology.

Sustainability was integral. Existing steel frames were removed and recycled, while new products were manufactured from 100% recycled steel. Designed for longevity, these windows can be fully recycled after more than a century of use, reinforcing the project’s commitment to circularity.

This restoration exemplifies how thoughtful design can unite historical preservation with technical advancement, creating a solution that is visually authentic, functionally superior, and environmentally responsible.

Eloise Millband
Kettell Windows

Eloise joined Kettell, a family-run Leicester-based windows and doors specialist, as a Business Administration Apprentice, completing her qualification with distinction from Loughborough College in July 2025. Since then, she has become an indispensable team member, contributing across marketing, sales, and operations in ways that far exceed expectations for someone at her career stage.

What distinguishes Eloise is her remarkable initiative and entrepreneurial mindset. She actively identifies opportunities for improvement and acts on them with confidence. Her apprenticeship project saw her research, trial and implement an AI-powered chatbot for customer service – likely the first in Leicestershire's double glazing industry. Though ultimately removed due to technical limitations with complex product queries, the innovation demonstrated forward-thinking rare in this traditionally slow-to-adapt sector, and her groundwork continues benefiting marketing and operational efficiency.

Eloise's commercial impact has been transformative. Despite entering the business with no industry knowledge, she has mastered the technical complexity of windows, doors, and configurations, generating £75,000 in incremental sales since January 2025. She confidently guides customers through complicated specifications, recently spending over three hours designing multiple door options with one couple. Her largest sale – £6,300 for a composite door and two garage doors – involved a near-new product line, yet she persevered and closed the deal. In a male-dominated competitive landscape, she's proving what young people can achieve with determination and proper support.

Beyond sales, Eloise has eliminated operational bottlenecks in order processing, contributing to 25% year-on-year sales growth, whilst her social media content drives consistently increasing engagement.

Most inspiring is Eloise's personal journey – managing anxiety whilst building confidence in customer-facing roles demonstrates resilience that inspires everyone around her. She represents the future of small business success. We are super proud to have her in the Kettell Team!
