Bereco Retail

Clients, David and Tracy, purchased their 1950s cottage in late 2021; fully aware that extensive updates would be needed to transform it into their family’s dream home. The cottage, originally built for the Bishop of Winchester, is located on historic grounds near the Castle and Stables. Their renovation was inspired by their nearby neighbours, who had recently completed their own remodel and highly recommended Bereco for their front door.

Bereco’s Existing Window & Doors Removal and Replacement Service was the perfect fit for David and Tracy’s project. Offering bespoke, high-performance solutions, this comprehensive service includes project management, the removal of existing, waste management and finishing work, ensuring a seamless experience for homeowners.

After exploring the Bereco website, the homeowners were captivated by a highly decorative door design featuring a central circular panel, envisioning it as the perfect statement for their entrance. They sought a design that would complement their existing Agate Grey windows while creating a striking focal point for their home’s façade. Together with our Design Consultants, they selected the exclusive CL16 design, a traditional four-panelled door with a distinctive central circular panel, adorned with intricate Bolection moulding, perfectly blending elegance and character.

To enhance the striking impact of the front entrance, David and Tracy opted for clear glazed full-height sidelights with an elegant Fishtail bar pattern on either side of the door. This design not only flooded the entrance way with natural light but also elevated its aesthetic appeal, making it a true centrepiece of their home. The bespoke door and sidelights transformed the cottage’s exterior, delivering a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity that perfectly aligned with the couple’s vision for their family home.

Grabex Windows

The customer wanted to purchase a custom timber entrance door designed to their specification. They had a particular design in mind for the stained glass, so they were looking for a company who could work in collaboration with a selected stained glass manufacturer, who designed art-deco glass to their design. The stained glass was then encapsulated into a double glass unit and the doors were to be factory glazed by Grabex before fitting.

The customer wanted to add unique hardware and choose a colour they’d like, and which would enhance the look of the property. This was a complete remodelling and extension of the property, which was sitting within the conservation area, so the entrance doors had to be timber.

James Wilding Joinery

James Wilding Joinery were tasked to replace the existing rotten frame with new bifolds and raked frame above, keeping the overall character of the barn conversion. The customer wanted to be able to open up their swimming pool and to bring the outside in.

As the property is within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the frame needed to be made from timber with double glazed units to be in keeping with the local surroundings. There also had to be consideration given to the thermal efficiency of the products installed.

Midhurst Windows & Doors (Keith Sheldrake and Mohammed Kamel)

Midhurst Windows and Doors was approached by The Martin Sewell Building Company who were carrying out a major renovation project on a beautiful, brick-built, listed period property. Midhurst had worked with The Martin Sewell Building Company on previous projects and they were confidence that Midhurst was the right company to assist them with the bespoke replacement of a large door and side panels that opened on to a secluded courtyard.

The door had the potential to be a real feature but, at some point in the life of the property, a previous owner had installed an inappropriate modern replacement. It was insubstantial, insecure, draughty and damaged and was not doing the property justice. Compounding the problem, the modern door had mis-matched, cracked, overly-vibrant stained glass panels as well!

Midhurst was commissioned to create a new door that would complement the property – one that would be beautiful, would stand the test of time and be resistant to rot. The client also requested that it should provide improved insulation and better security.

From the start it was clear this would be a challenging installation. The large door and surround would require fixed side panels, a bespoke arched top fan light and glazing bars that would line through perfectly across the entire area.

Radcliffe Glass & Windows

This project saw the Installation of an Urban Front Pivot Door with Aluco side frames and glazing with astragal bars. The Urban Front Pivot door was chosen as the client was adamant that he wanted the front door to be a warm and inviting feature to contrast with the industrial Art Deco style of his windows.

The client wanted the door to have presence and a wide aperture which is why an extra-wide pivot door was specified. It was important for the door to stand out on its own as a feature but still tie in with the rest of the home and is why we specified the astragal bar with Aluco Aluminium Slimlime side-panels.

Thames Valley Windows

Situated in one of Berkshire's most sought-after residential cul-de-sacs near Crowthorne village, a dated, detached 1960s bungalow was in desperate need of a modernisation.

The homeowners had lived in the bungalow since 2017, but due to health issues, modifications were needed for accessibility and mobility to ensure a comfortable standard of living.

Planning permission was approved for the proposed erection of single-storey front, side, and rear extensions and conversion of the existing double garage.

The core elements of the client's brief, given to Abracad architects, included the following:
• Improved accessibility to the property
• Enhanced mobility within the property
• Improve the sustainability and energy performance of the property
• Introduce modern glazing solutions to enhance the property's visual appeal while complimenting the surrounding village through minimal architectural glazing.

The brief involved transforming a dull 1960s bungalow with no obvious front door into a contemporary glazed entrance.

Due to the bespoke design and the requirements to be met, new made-to-measure windows and doors were needed for the project.

The homeowners' determining factor when looking for the right glazing installer at the start of the project was the size and scale of the company. They expressed the importance of the installer being able to deal with the scale of the project while meeting deadlines to keep the project on track.

After considering multiple competitors, the homeowners were impressed by the extensive range and high quality of our products in Thames Valley Windows’ Bracknell showroom and the excellent customer service.

Joe's glazing expertise and innovative approach gave the homeowners the confidence that Thames Valley Windows' 40 years of experience in the glazing industry and our commitment to delivering the products and installing them promptly meant we would be a trusted choice for their home renovation project.

Tradeglaze (Lincoln)

The project involved designing and installing a new entrance door that would seamlessly integrate with the heritage aesthetic of a stunning Lincolnshire property. The aim was to enhance both the visual appeal and energy efficiency of the home, replacing an outdated, draughty timber door that required frequent maintenance and repainting.

The client wanted a door that not only respected the property's historical charm but also provided a modern solution to improve thermal insulation and reduce energy loss. A balance had to be struck between maintaining the traditional character of the property and upgrading to a more durable, low-maintenance alternative that would offer long-term benefits in terms of energy efficiency and overall performance.

YES Glazing Solutions

This stunning family home in Edenbridge underwent a comprehensive refurbishment project, elevating its aesthetic appeal and functionality. The project focused on modernising the property while preserving its character and charm. The entrance to the home is now graced by an award-winning steel core entrance door, providing both security and style. This door features a contemporary design with clean lines and a durable finish, making a striking first impression. The steel core entrance door provides robust security, protecting the home and its occupants.

The new glazing solutions significantly enhance the home's visual appeal, creating a modern and inviting atmosphere. The slim sightlines of the windows and doors allow for maximum natural light, making the interior feel spacious and airy.

Camel Glass & Joinery

The client sought a modern, multifunctional garage space to showcase his classic car collection, featuring abundant natural light, convenient vehicle access, and a comfortable entertainment area. The design will integrate large glass roof lights, automated sliding doors, and an entertainment zone, blending style with functionality.

The project came with a substantial list of requirements, combining a well-lit garage with controlled lighting and climate control with a space for a large television, seating and sound system. The client also wanted to maximise natural light via expansive glass rooflights, and include automated sliding doors for easy access and enhanced security.

Chigwell Window Centre

Chigwell Window Centre was commissioned to work on a new build extension and renovation of an entire property using MC Smart 600 curtain walling, Alitherm 300 windows, Visoglide Plus patio doors and Visofold 1000 bifold doors.

Curtain walling was used due to size and wind loading of the 7.5 metre patio three pane at the bottom of the curtain walling, while Visoglide was chosen due to the size and weight of the patio doors.

Conserv-A-Tech Home Improvements

This client was looking for a comprehensive refurbishment and enhancement of their residential property which has extensive views of the open countryside.

They wanted to update the existing rear conservatory, extend their kitchen space and open up the lounge to create lighter, brighter and airer living spaces and they were keen to incorporate plenty of glass to ensure that they could enjoy the stunning countryside views from their home. They were also keen to have large glazed doors so that the home could be opened up to the beautiful countryside in the warmer months.

The client wanted a single supplier who could not only carry out the refurbishment and extension works, but could also re-landscape the outside area around the new extension so they could enjoy the whole space straight away.

Droylsden Glass

Mr and Mrs Lawton moved into a detached house in Droylsden, Greater Manchester, and wanted an orangery-style extension. While they were keen for the new space to be open plan, financial constraints meant they were reluctant to have a whole existing wall removed.

The couple visited Droylsden Glass’ showroom and were introduced to a range of options. For the past two years Droylsden Glass has concentrated its core building around the use of SIP panels. The outstanding thermal values of this prefabricated material, plus its time-saving benefits and structural strength, were explained to Mr and Mrs Lawton, and they were able to see a sample SIP panel in situ. They were impressed and decided to go with this method of construction for their orangery.

The Lawtons wanted a space that would accommodate the needs of their family (they have a young son and a teenage daughter), plus visitors to their home. Although they didn’t want to remove a whole wall, they were keen to part-integrate their kitchen into the new extension. It was therefore decided to remove the existing kitchen window, bridging the physical barrier between kitchen and orangery and giving both spaces a highly social feel with plenty of ‘flow’.

A further consideration was access to the garden. The couple wanted a more enclosed feel to their new space, so bifold doors were out of the equation. After consultation with the Droylsden Glass team, they chose a French doors option that would give them sizeable access to the garden without compromising the cosiness of the orangery.

Grabex Windows

The customer approached Grabex Windows to design a house extension with a different sliding door system in mind at first. Apart from side extension the customer was remodelling the house and required new windows and doors for the existing property.

Working alongside the architect, Grabex suggested HiFinity Sliding door system for the extension, as it better fit the brief and the overall design specification.

Radcliffe Glass & Windows

The project was to build a stone-built modern orangery extension with large-pane sliding patios and slim sightlines to give panoramic views over the surrounding countryside with a modern lantern to the roof to provide as much natural daylight as possible into the extension.

The build Itself used existing original stone that the client had gathered over the years and kept from demolishing an outhouse.

The project used Origin Aluminium’s Slimmest Non-Bonded Glazed OS29 for minimal sightlines to increase glass area, plus the Korniche Aluminium Lantern to continue the theme of minimalistic framing. A unique feature of the space was an underground culvert, which had a circular viewing point in the centre of the extension. To maximise this, it was topped with walk-on toughened safety glass.

Sherborne

The project brief was to create a stunning orangery addition to this beautiful period Surrey home. A key requirement was to utilise an area of fairly unused space abutting the neighbouring boundary.

Care & attention had to be applied from the initial design and specification stages whilst Sherborne worked with the clients to come up with a concept they preferred. The final design had to sit well in the way it attached to the existing building as well as allowing a free-flowing connection between the home and the immaculate gardens beyond.

The position of the orangery on a built-up patio area required careful consideration to get the height of the proposed structure working well when viewed from both the garden or the drawing room behind it.

Once the proposal had been agreed with the client, liaison began with the architects to assist with a successful planning application and building regulation submission. With the architects engaged further other construction details needed to be finalised, including the finer points around the way the glazing products were to be installed alongside a matching cladding detail to give the appearance of a ‘one’ finishing material to all external areas.

A specialist aluminium cladding solution was selected and approved that would create the desired affect and further research was carried out to agree the most practical way to carry out that element of the project.

This was certainly a challenging build that would test the Sherborne Team!

Tyneside Home Improvements

The clients sought to enhance their home by creating a striking, light-filled orangery that would seamlessly blend with the existing architecture and provide a spacious, year-round living area. The goal was to open the back of the house as much as possible to flood the interior with natural light, while maintaining the structural integrity and aesthetic harmony of the property.

To achieve this, the design called for a large, 9m wide orangery that would become the focal point of the home’s lower floor. The client’s vision was to remove as much of the existing rear wall as structurally feasible, replacing it with expansive glazing to open views to the garden and create a sense of continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces. This required a combination of innovative engineering and precise planning, including two 2.5m lintels to support the structure while ensuring it remained within the property’s structural limits.

The project required careful coordination with structural engineers and the submission of a planning application to ensure the proposed alterations met all local requirements. In addition to the structural work, the orangery’s design needed to incorporate high-quality materials that would complement the existing house and deliver on the client’s desire for a refined, elegant aesthetic.

The finished orangery was to feature white powder-coated aluminium framing, which would be used for the cornice and two large bi-fold doors, ensuring both durability and visual appeal. The glazing was specified with Georgian bars to maintain the classic, traditional look that the client desired. The project also involved significant internal modifications, including the removal and reforming of walls to accommodate the new layout and functionality of the orangery.

Conserv-A-Tech Home Improvements

The aim of this project was to design and construct a rear extension to enhance the functionality, aesthetics, and value of the property.

The client wanted the new extended space to look very similar to the existing property in terms of style, brickwork, roof tiles and frame colour, so that it didn’t feel like an ‘add-on’ but instead felt like it had always been part of the property.

It was essential for the space to be well-insulated with adequate ventilation to ensure that the new living space would be a comfortable living space all year round. Conserv-A-Tech Home Improvements also needed to ensure that the space was light and airy with plenty of glazed areas, so that enough natural light would reach the middle of the building where the existing French doors were positioned.

Droylsden Glass

The client for this project is the Church of England’s Diocese of Chester, and the Reverend Sam Durdant-Hollamby and his family. They had moved to a former show home on a new housing development in Hyde, Greater Manchester, which now serves as the vicarage of St Barnabas parish, Hattersley, and wanted to create additional living space for the family.

A request came from the client to add the extra space to the property that linked both the lounge and kitchen area. Additionally, the family raised concerns around natural light and asked what options were available to them. This resulted in two rooflights being added to the plan, plus a roof design with gable front to allow extra natural light into the space.

Over the past two years, Droylsden Glass has specialised in construction using Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) and this method of construction ticked a lot of the client’s requirements with the added benefits of sustainability, reduced wastage in the construction process and energy efficiency.

The client visited the showroom a couple of years ago to discuss this method of construction. They were given a factory tour to view the manufacturing process and the green credentials, to which they were very receptive for future builds. They were shown a scale-model sample SIP panel in cross-section, which reveals its construction method, and given information about its exceptional thermal efficiency, structural robustness and significant reduction in build time. They decided that this would be by far the best and most suitable building material for the extension.

PT Glazing Group

PT Glazing was tasked with supplying and installing aluminium windows and sliding patio doors for an extension project in Eaglesham, south of Glasgow. The client, seeking a modern and durable solution, required high-quality aluminium products with sleek, slim sightlines and energy-efficient properties.

PT Glazing recommended and installed their lift-and-slide system, known for its sleek appearance and excellent functionality. The system has quickly become the company’s most popular slider, combining both style and practicality. All aluminium products installed come with a 25-year powder coating guarantee (dependent on location), ensuring long-term durability. In addition, the windows and doors provide low U-values, enhancing energy efficiency, and helping to reduce heat loss.

For maximum thermal efficiency, double-glazed glass was chosen, with a centre pane U-value of 1.0, which ensures excellent insulation while maintaining clarity and light transmission.

Radcliffe Glass & Windows

The client’s project requirement was to provide a seamless feel from the home into their well-manicured garden, which could be used all year round. The client had seen a particular design on Pinterest that was very architectural in design with slim profiles, which they referred to as ‘The Cube’.

Due to the existing home having very little natural daylight, it was paramount when designing the extension that the new structure provided as much natural light as possible and had the architectural feel the client was searching for.

The structure needed to be elevated to align with the existing home and had to provide a panoramic view of the garden whilst ensuring privacy for the client and neighbours. Although the glazed extension needed to provide an unobstructed view, it was also required to be very thermally efficient while offering solar protection for those hot summer days. The project required careful design and recent technical innovations to achieve this objective.

Tyneside Home Improvements

This project involved the addition of a compact 3x3 meter hybrid orangery, seamlessly connecting to the rear living area of a mid-link home from the 1960s-1970s. The clients wanted to enhance their home with a stylish yet functional extension that would flow naturally from the original structure, respecting the home's period character. They envisioned an airy, sunlit space that could be enjoyed year-round while also serving as an accessible link to their outdoor patio.

To meet these goals, we designed an Edwardian-style hybrid orangery with an Ambi-Blue glass roof that harmonized with the home style aesthetic. The roof’s Edwardian design provided both modern insulation and a classic feel, blending smoothly into the existing architecture. The integration of UPVC French doors with a low threshold ensured ease of access to the outdoor patio, accommodating the clients’ desire for smooth indoor-outdoor flow.

One distinctive challenge was the hanging wall tiles on the existing structure, typical of homes from this era. We carefully stripped the wall tiles to allow for proper flashing of the roof, ensuring a watertight and visually cohesive connection to the main building. Internal pelmets with built-in spotlights were included, creating a subtle lighting solution that enhanced the overall ambiance without sacrificing floor space. This thoughtful design transformed the orangery into a comfortable, multifunctional space that has become an elegant extension of the home.

YES Glazing Solutions (featuring YES ultra-slim sliding doors – Leach)

This stunning project showcases the seamless integration of modern design with traditional architecture. The addition of a sleek, contemporary extension, featuring our YES ultra-slim sliding doors, creates a striking contrast against the historic brickwork of the main house.

The ultra-slim sliding doors not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the extension but also maximise natural light and create a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The minimal frame profiles of the doors allow for uninterrupted views of the beautiful garden, blurring the boundaries between the inside and outside.

This project is a testament to the versatility of YES ultra-slim sliding doors, demonstrating how they can be used to create stunning and functional spaces that complement a variety of architectural styles.

YES Glazing Solutions (Somerville Gardens)

The property at Somerville Gardens had, in its past, been converted into three separate apartments, while some minor extension works had taken place to the rear of the property. It was decided, therefore, to replace the extension rather than attempt an upgrade.

A key feature of the new extension, which is of similar footprint to what was there previously, is the chamfered corner which opens a glass façade to true-south. The cut from what would otherwise be a traditional gable-end, creates an immediate connection with the newly unified garden. By opening the end of the extension up to face south, natural light is able to puncture the kitchen/dining space until late evening; this allowed YES Glazing Solutions to retain the existing kitchen, extending it slightly by only a couple of units.

Bereco Retail

Snowdrop Cottage was built in the 1840s by the gentleman who owned the local village brewery. When Kay and Graham purchased the cottage in 2022, they began a thoughtful renovation project that honoured the property’s history while enhancing its functionality for modern living.

Bereco offer virtual consultations for homeowner customers, providing them with the opportunity to collaborate with Bereco’s design consultants. During these sessions, clients can explore a variety of windows and doors styles tailored to their home and budget.

Kay and Graham, however, had a clear vision for their renovation. Their goal was to replace the existing PVC-U windows and porch door with an authentic style that would honour the cottage’s heritage. They also opted for Bereco’s existing window removal and replacement service, which handles everything from the removal of existing windows, to waste management and the finishing works, ensuring a seamless process.

The quotation included a porch door and window, as well as various windows for the lounge, bathroom, bedrooms and boot room. The porch door and window were designed with a beautiful Gothic bar pattern, reminiscent of the original style when the cottage was first constructed, For the remaining windows, a modest cottage bar pattern was selected, perfectly complementing the home’s period aesthetic.

This thoughtful approach ensured that the renovations not only aligned with the property’s history but also enhanced its timeless charm.

Hayley Windows Design & Installation

The objective of this project was to replace the original inefficient steel leaded windows, offering a fresh, modern look while retaining the character and charm of the property. Hayley Windows spent a lot of time with the homeowners in their showroom discussing various profiles, but all parties felt it was imperative to try and replicate the steel as best as possible ensuring the property was benefitting from improved security and energy efficiency, heritage aluminium being the final decision.

The property is located in the rural village of Enville, Staffordshire, and although the property does not fall under strict conservation, the homeowners knew they needed to be considerate as there had been issues in the past with property improvements being 'frowned upon’ and complained about to the local council and the neighbouring Enville Estate, who own majority of the village and have a large influence.

Patchett Joinery installation team

Archbishop Holgate Hospital is a historic building in Hemsworth, West Yorkshire. It was completed in 1859 in the Victorian Gothic style and is now a Grade II Listed Building. Archbishop Holgate Hospital Trust provides Almshouses for elderly vulnerable local people who are in need and local young people who need financial assistance in their education. The hospital provides 24 Almshouses across 13 acres of managed woodland and natural habitats.

The Trust’s founder was Robert Holgate, who was Archbishop of York from 1545-1553 and decreed in his will that Almshouses should be built to provide for needy persons over 60 years of age from the ancient parishes of Hemsworth, Felkirk, South Kirkby and Wragby.

The site also contains a Grammar School (Archbishop Holgate School) and Archbishop Holgate Hospital Museum which is cared for and curated by their resident archivist and run in partnership with Pontefract Historical Society and Wakefield City Archives.

The Trust were in need of over 100 new timber windows at the back of the building. The existing windows were draughty and worn, with peeling paint and rusting hardware and one broken window that was boarded up. Patchett Joinery was approached by PPIY Architects – a long-established RIBA Chartered architectural practice based in York – to craft and install replacement windows for this beautiful Victorian building.

PT Glazing Group

PT Glazing was enlisted by a prominent building company to bring their expertise in aluminium window installations to a prestigious project involving the renovation and construction of four luxury family homes in the Trinity/Newhaven area of Edinburgh.

The location, Dunforth Gardens, is a Category C(S) Listed property situated within the Edinburgh World Heritage Site and New Town Conservation Area. The site boasts stunning views over Newhaven and the Firth of Forth to the north.

Dunforth House, originally built by Henry Robb, a Leith ship builder circa 1860, presented unique challenges due to its historical significance and location within a conservation area. The property, initially donated to the Church of Scotland, had served various purposes, including being a children’s home until 2005.

Sherborne

This ambitious project saw Sherborne supply and install windows and doors into a new build that incorporated the rebuilding of a 400-year-old barn that had been safely stored by a specialist for several years.

The barn sections of the project had been dismantled in Kent and then stored in Surrey. All of the original timbers had been carefully preserved and their positions painstakingly documented in anticipation of their restoration.

The clients found a suitable plot in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside and work started on plans to rebuild the barn along with a new brick built section constructed to sympathetically tie in with the historic barn.

Due to the fact the project was effectively a new build home, permission was granted to use energy efficient glazing products that were aesthetically right for the traditional looking design agreed by the local authority.

Attention to detail to ensure every aspect of this new family home followed the theme of looking like a 17th century building were paramount – and the end result is stunning.

Tradeglaze (Lincoln)

Tradeglaze worked on a historic barn conversion in a Lincolnshire conservation area. This 3600ft2 luxury property required careful consideration and planning to replace its original timber window, doors and even shiplap panelling with solutions that met the homeowner’s modern performance expectations while preserving the building’s historic charm.

Tradeglaze specified, fabricated and installed 28 AluK 58BW HI aluminium windows, a 58BD aluminium French door, and a 58BD aluminium door, all finished in RAL7032 Pebble Grey to aesthetically complement the aged timber beams of the barn. The aluminium glazing offers slim sightlines and a sleek, contemporary look, while closely replicating the original frames to meet stringent conservation area requirements. This balance of tradition and innovation not only maintains the architectural integrity of the property but also delivers enhanced thermal efficiency and durability, combined with zero need for maintenance.

Tyneside Home Improvements

This project was a sensitive renovation and orangery installation undertaken within the Sadberge Conservation Area near Darlington. The project aimed to enhance the building's functionality and aesthetic appeal while strictly adhering to heritage conservation requirements. Planning approval from Darlington Borough Council mandated that all works had to achieve a satisfactory appearance in the interest of visual amenity, with materials and finishes requiring approval by the local authority. These conditions guided each step of the project, from material selection to final detailing, ensuring alignment with conservation standards.

The client envisioned an orangery that would serve as a bright, versatile space for relaxation and plant growth, enhancing the existing structure’s appeal and utility. The orangery featured an unusually high roof for a spacious, light-filled atmosphere, and required two new ‘knock-throughs’ into the original building to create a seamless connection with the home’s main living area.

To integrate the new structure with the heritage property, the external frames of the orangery were specified in Sage Green, complementing the historical character of the area, while the internal frames remained white to blend with the interior decor. Inside, the orangery was finished with internal pelmets, containing 16 embedded LED spotlights for flexible lighting. The glazed roof, constructed with Pilkington SSN (Sunshade Neutral) glazing, ensured both optimal light diffusion and solar protection, essential for maintaining a comfortable, energy-efficient environment.

This careful attention to detail, from structural adjustments to aesthetic considerations, enabled Tyneside Home Improvements to preserve the property’s character while enhancing its functionality, meeting the needs of both the client and the conservation authority.

Camel Glass & Joinery

Camel Glass took on the significant task of enhancing the external aesthetics and functionality of the East Block building at The Park Community School. This project was part of a comprehensive external refurbishment aimed at modernising the facility while ensuring energy efficiency and longevity. The scope of work included the installation of replacement PVC windows, specialised solar control glass, custom-manufactured commercial aluminium doors, as well as facia, soffit, and cladding updates.

GHW Windows

Great Harwood Windows was selected to enhance the create a functional, visually appealing environment for residents, staff and visitors at Acer House care home in Blackburn, whilst meeting high standards for durability, insulation and accessibility. The team were tasked to install PVC-U windows and doors in anthracite grey across the property as well as an aluminium electronically operated entrance door. Set across four floors, the 70-bedroom property also contains a cinema, spa suite, cocktail bar and private restaurants. The clients advised their tender allowed for PVC-U windows that were required to be aesthetically pleasing, practical, easy to use, thermally efficient and hold the security standards required to adhere to the care home health and safety procedures.

Horizon Architectural Glazing - Kelsey Flats

The project involved installing aluminium sliding doors and flush casement PVC windows for a block of flats. The aluminium sliders were selected to accommodate the large glass spans required, while the flush casement PVC windows were chosen to enhance the building's overall appearance. The design aimed to balance functionality with aesthetics, ensuring the flats offered modern, visually appealing features while maximising light and ventilation.

Due to the scale of the project and site-specific constraints, detailed planning and coordination were essential. The limited access through the building presented logistical challenges for delivering materials, particularly the large and weighty units required for the sliding doors. Additionally, the height of the block of flats added complexity to the installation process, as moving materials to higher levels demanded innovative solutions.

The project was executed with a focus on precision and efficiency, ensuring all components were installed to meet strict safety and quality standards. A key aspect of the brief was to maintain a cohesive aesthetic across the property while providing durable, low-maintenance solutions suitable for long-term use.

JPJ Installations

Uncommon Holborn, formerly known as Templar House, in Central London has been extensively refurbished by Structuretone. The existing façade and frame were retained and sensitively restored to give the 1950s building another lease of life with a lower carbon footprint and reduced emissions. JPJ were awarded the fenestration contract to replace the ageing original fenestration along with modern additions. JPJ replaced the windows to the front High Holborn façade, including the ground floor shopfronts. Windows were also replaced to the rear (Eagle Street) facade along with the addition of Sunray steel louvred screens. The two staircore screens spanning seven floors were replaced, along with the windows to both sides of the link portion of the building, which went from the first floor to the eighth floor.

PT Glazing Group

The client, a leading construction, refurbishment and maintenance main contractor, approached PT Glazing Group with a project involving the replacement of windows at Newton Stewart Fire Station in New Galloway, south west Scotland. The client required the installation of 10 new windows to replace the existing old timber casement ones. The objective was to upgrade to modern aluminium windows with a specific colour requirement of RAL9005G Jet Black Gloss. In addition, the project encompassed internal finishes using MDF painted in white.

Tradeglaze (Lincoln)

YES Glazing Solutions

Sevenoaks School in Kent, a prestigious educational institution with a rich history, entrusted YES Glazing Solutions with a significant restoration project. The YES team was tasked with supplying and installing genuine Crittall corporate arched windows for a listed historic building on the school's campus.

By carefully selecting and installing these iconic windows, the team was able to preserve the building's architectural integrity while enhancing its aesthetic appeal. The Crittall windows not only complement the building's historic character but also provide excellent thermal performance and sound insulation, creating a comfortable and energy-efficient learning environment.

Aspect Windows

Waters Edge is a beautiful 1920s property approximately 30 metres from the Torquay coastline. The property has undergone major renovations, transforming the downstairs living space, as well as the front and rear of the property.

A new resin driveway was installed at the property's entrance, outbuildings were built, and a new patio area was added in the rear garden. Inside, major internal walls were knocked down to create an open-plan living space that flowed seamlessly from room to room.

The homeowners approached Aspect Windows to manufacture, supply and install their property’s glazing. With unbeatable coastal views at the rear of the property, the homeowners wanted to maximise their external views, while maintaining a cosy open-plan living arrangement.

The proximity to the sea meant special consideration had to be given to the products chosen. Thermal performance, soundproofing, wind resistance, durability and aesthetic styling were paramount for the homeowners.

The project came to Aspect Windows at a difficult time for the homeowners. Initial plans for the project had been put forward to another local glazing installer who had ceased trading during the build. The owners were left disappointed by the standard of their work and frustrated and anxious about the project.

The homeowners were drawn to Aspect Windows as a Reynaers at Home partner, having already had the CP 130 Lift and Slide system installed at their property. From there, Aspect’s vast product range allowed the homeowners to find all their glazing products in one place.

Bereco Retail

The renovation of this charming 1920s property, situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, began in May 2023. Careful consideration was given ensuring the design complemented the stunning natural surroundings while enhancing the home’s character.

Homeowners Michael and Alex first reached out to Bereco in May 2023 for a complete whole-house remodel. They were interested in Bereco’s Sustainable Timber Window and Door Supply and Installation Service, a bespoke package that includes project management, removal of existing windows and doors, waste management and finishing works.

The property’s existing sliding sash windows, installed during a complete rebuild in 2001, were imported from a supplier outside of the UK, and were originally of a good quality. This inspired the homeowners to seek the best quality windows for their renovation. Acting as the main designers, the homeowners collaborated with their architect and opted for a classic Georgian aesthetic, maintaining the traditional sash window style. Friends who had previously installed Bereco windows and doors highly recommended them, leading the couple to connect with Ian Dear, sales manager for the South East.

This property features an impressive array of large sliding sash windows, French Doors and full height screens, all of which needed to align with Michael and Alex’s chosen design and style.

Great Harwood Windows

Thirlmere is a magnificent property that has been architecturally designed and finished to the very highest of standards to create a wonderful family home, with the further benefit of supplementary annexe accommodation. The property sits on a plot of 1.83 acres and boasts fabulous views over countryside and farmland on to the Yorkshire Dales.

GHW Windows was approached by the client after they acquired the land in Rimmington, Ribble Valley. Their main focus when undertaking this project was to maximise and emphasis the fabulous views of the Ribble Valley and Yorkshire Dales.

Upon the initial meeting with GHW Windows, the customer advised they wanted aluminium products throughout their home. However, they were keen to reduce the 'modern' look that comes with these products by choosing their own RAL colour and having the bars of aluminium specially powder coated before being manufactured.

As well as maximising views and reducing sightlines the customer also wanted to ensure all the products in each room were practical for day-to-day use; as such, GHW Windows worked with the customer in designing the job from plans to ensure aesthetic visuals, minimum sightlines and practicality was achieved across the home.

Hayley Windows Design & Installation

This project is a comprehensive renovation of a large home in a beautiful rural village location, transforming it into a modern, energy-efficient home while retaining its timeless character and charm.

Hayley Windows was heavily involved from the outset, working with the customer, architect, interior designer and builder on the overall design of the interiors and exteriors to ensure the glazing worked with every element of the property.

The renovation includes extensive insulation upgrades, underfloor heating, and energy-efficient glazing throughout, ensuring the property meets modern standards of comfort and sustainability. This remarkable transformation strikes the perfect balance between traditional character and contemporary living, with each detail carefully selected to enhance the home’s style, functionality, and longevity.

Horizon Architectural Glazing – Bazeley

This project involved the installation of Origin aluminium systems in a new build property, with a focus on maximizing natural light, durability, and energy efficiency. The design featured large glass panels, including expansive sliders with slim sightlines, to enhance the property’s modern aesthetic and capitalise on its stunning views.

The installation required careful handling of oversized glass panels, which needed to be lifted into position due to their size and weight. The sliders were specifically chosen for their ultra-slim profiles, which provided a sleek, contemporary appearance while maximising the view and creating a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Given the property’s coastal location, stainless steel hardware was selected to withstand the corrosive effects of the environment, ensuring longevity and maintaining the integrity of the installation. Additionally, SKN glass was used to improve the property’s energy efficiency, balancing solar control with thermal insulation to create a comfortable living environment year-round.

This project exemplified the integration of high-performance materials and cutting-edge design, achieving a harmonious blend of style, functionality, and durability.

Lightfoot Windows (Kent)

Lightfoot Windows was approached to design and install a series of external Crittall door screens on the rear elevation for the clients' extension and refurbishment project.

The garden backs onto the River Thames so the client wanted something that was not only sympathetic to the Victorian property but also added a contemporary feel to the living space, whilst also allowing in as much light as possible so they could have a undisturbed view to their beautiful garden. The use of high-end and high-quality products was a crucial part of this project as it also included bespoke hand-made red bricks, which were chosen to add a beautiful contrast against the black steel Crittall doors.

Radcliffe Glass & Windows

Radcliffe was instructed to advise, supply and install aluminium external windows & doors, including internal doors, to a bespoke new-build home for the main contractor, Eco-Build, on behalf of Mr & Mrs Cohen.

Due to the home's modern design and apertures, after many mood boards and customer and main-contractor meetings, it was decided to install steel look aluminium products as their design suited the home's apertures, structure and design elements. Aluminium was used instead of steel due to the quantity of glazing, thermal efficiency targets and budgetary requirements. The brief was to give an industrial yet modern look with hints of Art Deco.

Sherborne - Hampshire Contemporary Project

Sherborne worked very closely with Lofthouse Residences Limited to fulfil the design proposals set out by award-winning architects at Tony Holt Design.

The product brief from the clients and their architects allowed Sherborne the freedom to do their own research and put together a proposal that took many, many hours along with plenty of thought to develop a meticulously planned installation that achieved the end result – and some!

The proposed designs from the architect dictated large expanses of glass and slim/contemporary lines using aluminium products that were capable of performing both energy efficiently and structurally whilst delivering the aesthetics required.

Sourcing the right products to achieve the required aesthetics whilst achieving compliance was no mean feat; products were carefully sourced from far and wide to satisfy the demands of the client and project management team.

Thames Valley Windows (Project: Guildford)

With its unique design and exceptional performance, the six-pane, 20-metre wide Solarlux Cero III minimalist sliding door adds a grand statement to the swimming pool and gym extension at an exceptional arts and crafts property in Guildford. It offers breathtaking views of the open Surrey countryside.

Just 0.75 miles from Guildford town centre, the beautiful detached arts and crafts style property with a contemporary edge is located on a highly desirable road and rural location in a picturesque and sought-after village.

The homeowners purchased the property in 2021, and then, around 2023, a careful and extensive gym and swimming pool extension process began.

Part of the homeowners’ vision was to create a ‘wow’ factor with high-quality oversized sliding doors that would make the widest opening while providing structural strength and outstanding insulation.

Paul Mills, a professional sales director with over 20 years of experience in the fenestration industry, meticulously planned and implemented the project, ensuring that every detail was perfect.

Due to the size of the opening, Paul recommended the award-winning complete floor-to-ceiling Cero III Sliding door system for its aesthetics and unparalleled performance.

Thames Valley Windows (Project: Bath)

Set within the Bath conservation area and World Heritage site, this dated, unlisted late 20th century residential property desperately needed attention and a design overhaul, inside and out.

The new owners wanted to replace the building and design an energy-efficient, modern, distinctive house.

The core elements of the client's brief, given to CaSA Architects, detailed the desire to design a new low-carbon, highly sustainable, luxury build with a bespoke glazing solution. Knowing that their architect and housebuilder were previous customers of Thames Valley Windows, they re-appointed the company to provide all the bespoke glazing for their luxury new home.

The client thought installing minimal architectural glazing solutions was necessary to ensure that the house benefits from natural light in every room. Not only did the windows and doors being fitted throughout the whole property need to offer slim sightlines and ample natural light, but they also wanted the glazing systems to connect living spaces with the outdoors, offering panoramic views across the garden and connecting Somerset countryside.

Among the many stringent environmental and planning constraints connected with building a contemporary new building in a conservation area were those relating to a replacement dwelling that will enhance or preserve its historic environment.

Bath Preservation Trust provided positive planning feedback in replacing the original house with a Passivhaus-standard contemporary new build within an urban setting. The property was described as a 'contemporary imaginative design' and commended for its 'inclusion of energy-efficient and micro-renewable features.'

Hayley Windows Design & Installation

The customers came to Hayley Windows needing help with a design to upgrade the current glazing in an existing extension. They already had builders in place doing renovations on the roof and putting up some new brickwork replacing old rotten timber.

Although the job was simply replacing existing windows, having a building team on hand already working directly with the customer meant Hayley Windows had the flexibility to change some of the apertures and give this space a new personality, without simply going for the easy option of replacing like-for-like.

This property is situated in beautiful countryside and the original part of the house is an older cottage.

Jackson Windows by Tradeglaze

This contemporary residence, in a historic Lincolnshire conservation area, required meticulous planning to replace the original timber windows with modern flush casement aluminium alternatives that seamlessly combine advanced performance features with the preservation of the area's architectural heritage.

For this project, Tradeglaze specified, fabricated, and supplied AluK 58BW HI Aluminium flush casement windows finished in a bespoke RAL9010 Ivory White shade, chosen to match the aesthetic character of the property. The slim profiles of the aluminium frames ensure a sleek, modern appearance, while the design faithfully replicates the traditional aesthetic of timber, offering a maintenance-free solution.

This careful balance of innovation and heritage preserves the historic charm of the building while delivering enhanced thermal efficiency and durability, perfectly blending tradition with modern living standards.

Jewel Home Group

Jewel Home Group The customer had carried out major refurbishments inside his property, and the final part of the renovations was installing new doors and windows throughout the property, and replacing the existing conservatory with new windows and doors and a replacement insulated roof.

He wanted to add security, aesthetics and insulation as the key features and benefits of new windows and doors, with a traditional look not far from his existing windows and doors.

Kettell Windows

The customer came to Kettell Windows wanting to replicate the existing wooden bays, which were at the end of their life. They had holes, leaked and were making the house extremely cold. As it is a period property, in an elevated position on a prestigious road in the heart of the Leicestershire village of Quorn, they wished to replace it with something as close to the original as possible, but with modern materials to reduce maintenance & improve warmth in their home all within the constraints of their budget. Windows in other parts of the house had been replaced with PVC-U but were not of great quality, or in keeping with the period of the home; therefore the homeowners did not want to repeat the previous mistakes. At first the opinion was that PVC-U didn't offer a great choice, but on a recommendation from a long-standing customer they gave Kettell a call.

Ben from the Kettell team went out to the home, and after reviewing and discussing what was important to them – particularly the colour matching to the existing doors and windows – they were pleasantly surprised as to what was possible.

Kettell needed to repair and replace all existing timber architraves and plaster internally. There were also render repairs and new pine fascias externally. This installation took very careful surveying and slow methodical installation techniques along with plastering and joinery skills.

PT Glazing Group

PT Glazing recently undertook a transformative project in Newton Mearns, Glasgow, involving the renovation of a magnificent old, detached sandstone property. The client sought to preserve the character of their home’s Crittle windows and diamond leading while addressing issues of inefficiency, draughts, and single glazing across 12 windows and one timber front door.

PT Glazing proposed their Aluminium Heritage range, specifically designed for refurbishment and renewal projects, particularly in historically sensitive areas like Newton Mearns. This range seamlessly blends timeless elegance with modern thermal performance, boasting impressive U-values as low as 1.4 to meet contemporary building regulations. The Heritage windows are also thermally broken for maximum efficiency.

To fulfil the client’s preference for white frames, PT Glazing recommended Sensations Frost White, which adds a captivating sparkle when illuminated by sunlight. All aluminium products offered by PT Glazing undergo powder coating to comply with British, European, and Qualicoat Standards, ensuring durability and longevity.

To preserve the traditional charm of diamond leading, PT Glazing supplied brand new double-glazed high-performance glass with a centre pane value of 1.0, featuring meticulously crafted diamond leading. For a cohesive aesthetic, the client opted for classic Art Deco handles in white to complement the frame colour.

Radcliffe Glass & Windows

The project brief was to install the slimmest windows available and sit them into the timber frame to give a perception of as much glazing as possible. The product needed to be minimalistic and blend with the traditional wooden structure to give the build a modern edge. It was very important that the windows were energy efficient and that the product and Radcliffe Glass & Windows were environmentally friendly. To get the slimmest window, Radcliffe used their long-standing partner Origin and their OW70 Slimline window for minimal sightlines along with Alufold for the glass to glass corner window.

Tyneside Home Improvements

This project involved the addition of a compact 3x3 metre hybrid orangery, seamlessly connecting to the rear living area of a mid-link home from the 1960s-1970s. The clients wanted to enhance their home with a stylish yet functional extension that would flow naturally from the original structure, respecting the home's period character. They envisioned an airy, sunlit space that could be enjoyed year-round while also serving as an accessible link to their outdoor patio.

To meet these goals, Tyneside Home Improvements designed an Edwardian-style hybrid orangery with an Ambi-Blue glass roof that harmonised with the home style aesthetic. The roof’s Edwardian design provided both modern insulation and a classic feel, blending smoothly into the existing architecture. The integration of PVC-U French doors with a low threshold ensured ease of access to the outdoor patio, accommodating the clients’ desire for smooth indoor-outdoor flow.

One distinctive challenge was the hanging wall tiles on the existing structure, typical of homes from this era. Tyneside carefully stripped the wall tiles to allow for proper flashing of the roof, ensuring a watertight and visually cohesive connection to the main building. Internal pelmets with built-in spotlights were included, creating a subtle lighting solution that enhanced the overall ambiance without sacrificing floor space. This thoughtful design transformed the orangery into a comfortable, multifunctional space that has become an elegant extension of the home.

YES Glazing Solutions

The property at Somerville Gardens had, in its past, been converted into three separate apartments, while some minor extension works had taken place to the rear of the property. It was decided, therefore, to replace the extension rather than attempt an upgrade.

A key feature of the new extension, which is of similar footprint to what was there previously, is the chamfered corner which opens a glass façade to true-south. The cut from what would otherwise be a traditional gable-end, creates an immediate connection with the newly unified garden. By opening the end of the extension up to face south, natural light is able to puncture the kitchen/dining space until late evening; this allowed YES Glazing Solutions to retain the existing kitchen, extending it slightly by only a couple of units.

aïr 900 Bifold Door - Everglade Windows

The aïr 900 Bifold Door by Everglade Windows epitomises innovation and responsiveness to customer demand. Launched in 2023, it is another example of Everglade’s commitment to product development and innovation to meet the demand of its trade customers. Born into a saturated bifold door market, Everglade delivered on the challenge of providing a bifold door option to its installer customers that stood above the rest – ticking all the boxes in terms of design, technical performance and style, while doing so at a favourable price point.

The product introduced an ultra-slim 107mm sightline, setting new industry standards. At the time of launch, it was the slimmest bifold door of its kind in the UK market, and to our knowledge still remains to be.

In 2024, Everglade took this concept further with the launch of the Heritage option, specifically addressing demand for steel-look and art deco aesthetics with a contemporary twist. Link Vent 4000 – Glazpart

In June 2022, the Building Regulations Approved Document F (means of ventilation) changed, meaning that companies replacing windows and doors had to factor in a means to ventilate all habitable rooms to comply with the new regulations. The most practical, affordable and easiest way to comply is to install a trickle vent in a window and door. Anticipating this change and the challenges for installers, Glazpart by June 2022, launched the Link Vent 4000 for a home’s smaller rooms (and windows/doors) such as kitchens, bathrooms, hallways etc.

The Link Vent 4000 is installed into a window or door to provide the regulatory passive (background) ventilation in a dwelling. The Link Vent 4000 EQA (Equivalent Area) is the measure of the vents’ airflow performance (4000mm2).

The vents are designed to fully comply with Building Regulations. With a clever design that is simple and user-friendly for both opening and closing – the Link Vent's innovative closing action allows more control to reduce draughts by directing air away from occupants.

The Link Vent 4000 closure plate is split to allow for partial (50%) opening and greater ease of opening of the ventilator. The Link Vent 4000 also has rounded ends of the vent to allow for installation on timber windows and it is available in either screw or clip in fixing types - the design eliminates the need for end caps whilst the clip fix design (Pawl’s) allows for a fast, easy vent installation. Its smart design, easy fitting, and functionality combined with a huge choice of colours and decorative finishes make it easy for installers to choose the Link Vent for their windows and doors.

The Link Vent 4000 can both cool a house when overheating or moderate temperatures through smart ventilation when properties become cold and heating is turned on.

QR Coded Windows & The Vault - Pearl Windows

For the first time in the UK, Pearl customers’ windows and doors have a unique QR Code. This creates a VIN number specifically for each product within their home. With the continuous development of its IT Portal, Pearl Windows has managed to incorporate a full cloud-based maintenance system, in conjunction with launching a servicing programme to the consumer, meaning the company can now create a full-service history for their new windows and doors. Customers can register their warranty by simply scanning the QR code on any of their windows which leads to a screen where they will find the job number, manufacture date, customer name, and reference. This process helps streamline customer experience, and everything is logged and recorded.

Prestige Reverse Butt Joint – Sheerline

Sheerline’s Prestige Reverse Butt Joint is an innovative jointing method that has been developed specifically for use with the Prestige window system. While this method is well-known within the PVC-U sector, it is relatively unheard of within aluminium.

This is surprising given the fact it offers so many tangible benefits, including the fact that fabricators can offer fully internally beaded aluminium windows with both opening vents and fixed panes. This makes it the ideal solution for large-scale commercial projects where efficiency is key.

An evolution of Sheerline’s traditional corner cleat, the new patented T cleats enable fabricators to manufacture reverse butt jointed windows using the newly introduced Prestige Z transom for fully internally glazed windows.

This is an evolution of Sheerline’s proven patented corner cleat, a technological advance that reduces waste and misalignment and makes life easier for window manufacturers. This unique approach to frame manufacturing has enabled Garnalex’s R&D team to develop a solution that helps move the manufacture of aluminium frames forward. Again, challenging the accepted norms of legacy aluminium systems.

Finished windows have clean, simple aesthetics – exactly the attributes specifiers and homeowners are looking for when they choose aluminium – avoiding the confusion of intersecting beads and angles that occur in competitor’s solutions to this issue.

Armasmart – UAP

Armasmart is a range of antibacterial door hardware that kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria, including COVID-19, offering groundbreaking technical innovation. The range comprises pull handles, push plates, door closers, kick plates, signage, bathroom turns, escutcheon hinges, and lever handles.

Armasmart is designed with retrofit compatibility and easy installation in mind, making it a practical solution for both new builds and upgrades to existing doors. Its versatility allows it to be seamlessly integrated into a wide range of environments without the need for extensive modifications.

It revolutionises high-contact surfaces by combining anti-tarnish, anti-corrosion, and antimicrobial properties. This innovative coating uses a combination of nanomaterials and active chemicals, originally developed in collaboration with the Royal Mint to protect cupric coinage from tarnish. Its unique feature is the encapsulation of the active agent within naturally occurring nanotubes (Halloysite), allowing a controlled release when corrosion or tarnish is present.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, copper's natural antimicrobial properties gained recognition, and Armasmart was tested to ensure these were preserved. Astonishingly, its antimicrobial efficacy was found to be enhanced by 100 times, making it ideal for hygienic applications on high-contact surfaces like door handles, bathroom fittings, and kitchen fixtures. The coating also offers exceptional resistance to discoloration and tarnish, prolonging product life and maintaining aesthetic appeal.

Commercialised by UAP, Armasmart now leads the way in delivering dual-functionality coatings that combine cosmetic excellence with superior hygiene. It is cost-effective, Earth-friendly, and versatile, making it a transformative solution for domestic, healthcare, and medical environments. This innovative coating ensures that high-contact surfaces remain both hygienic and visually pristine.
